Just read this post and it's sickening. These disgusting idiots need to be locked away for a long time and never be allowed to drive anything with a motor!

Here is where Wisconsin's new registration law needs to go into effect. If you don't belong to a club you will pay $70.00 a year to register a sled. If you belong to a club you will pay $35.00 . (this is just peliminary, they are working out the details and amounts yet.)

But if these people belonged to a club and got an issue of Wisconsin Snowmobile News each month. They would maybe learn to be more responsible and find out who is doing all the work, so they can "RIDE".

Each year its a battle to get land leases signed, brushing, signing, and grooming. Everyone thinks the county does it, nope, my muscles are still sore from the 92 hours to date. When was the last time you saw a county worker working on a Saturday or Sunday, unless it was the highway dept for snow removal.

JOIN A CLUB!

The problem has nothing to do with fees charged by the government agency or being a member of a club!

The problem was that two of the three are idiots. They have long criminal records and are trouble makers. Being in a club would not of mattered one bit to these two punks. Trust me I know they hunt right next to us and are nothing but trouble. I am sure this is not the first time they have killed deer with a motorized vehicle. The problem is the Waupaca County cops obviously didn't see them as a problem because they had plenty of times to punish them but always let them off. I am just glad they were caught quickly.

The sad part about this is how "Joe Snowmobiler" takes all the heat because they happened to use snowmobiles in committing these crimes. Same thing happens if a house is broken into and they used a snowmobile. You don't see the papers reporting that a "car driver" just held up the local bank just because he used a car to get there and then gets away in it. Or because someone uses a gun in a holdup, it doesn't say "Gun Owner Robs Bank", it says "Thieves Rob Bank" The media needs to look at how they report things. Instead of " Snowmobilers kill 5 deer" the headline should read "Poachers kill 5 deer" How you compose the sentence can tend to formulate opinions in peoples minds. Sometimes it seems like the media is out to show snowmobiling in a bad light.

These two are exactly right. Thanks guys!

When was the last time you saw a person on a snowmobile put in a POSITIVE light in the media or movies?
Almost always, you see the BAD guy jump on a sled/ORV/motorcycle and take off.
Pay attention next time you see one in a movie, note how it looks to the average person.

I can think of only a couple times I have seen Snowmobiles in a positive light in movies, but I can think of HUNDREDS of times they are portrayed as negative.
Think about it.

These guys are NOT "Snowmobilers" as you and I think of ourselves, they either are, or hopefully "were", on their way to killing people eventually.
They simply choose to use the snowmobile they were riding as a weapon.
They should be called what they are, Thieves and sick people, they have NOTHING to do with snowmobiling or snowmobiles.
Their behavior isn't any different in a car or on a bicycle.

Next time you see this kind of bias in the media, call them and point it out.
They are seriously blind to their own bias in reporting.
Enough people call and it can change.
(Have gotten the newspaper to print that kind of retraction before.)

(Note that even the DNR officer was quick to point out that this had NOTHING to do with snowmobiles, he himself was very good at NOT biasing the information.)

As far as us Snowmobilers go...
Most were justifiably outraged, as you should be.
I wouldn't want you as a neighbor if you weren't outraged, I would seriously worry about you!

The so-called "snowmobilers" calling for:
Closing Trails.
More "enforcement".
Raising costs.
Etc, etc, etc.

Are you jumping into the idiot pool yourselves???
Let us help you before YOU drown.

Let's put it this way, these guys are idiots that killed the deer, etc.
So how does harassing the average rider, raising his costs, etc, etc, etc, help you, me, or any other sledder?
Simply put, it doesn't.

This DOES give awesome ammunition to the anti-ORV crowd, they can hold up YOUR post and say "LOOK! Even the sledders think the trails should be closed!"
NOW don't those posts look pretty stupid?
Those kind of posts are a anti-ORV persons dream come true...

The idiots will always be idiots, doesn't matter what you do to the average sledder.
All that kind of stuff does is hurt the guys/gals that simply want to sled without harassment.

It's like letting a bad driver in a car ruin your day...
Why let him/her?
If you jumped out, beat the crap out of him/her, and got back in your car, what did it change?
Nothing. (You may mentally feel better, but it didn't change the world.)

Now you committed a crime, you (and them) are all worked up, and the guy is STILL an idiot and will be the rest of his life.
An idiot is an idiot, they rarely change, they simply end up in prison and/or die early.

Suggesting punishing the average rider, for an idiots actions, is irresponsible on our part guys.

Can't think of a better way to lose more of our freedoms.

Good to hear some local insite, but I will say that if they had been brought up in a family that was part of a club it may have had a influence on them or anyone for that matter, but I agree sometimes you cant change stupidity.

You nailed it to a T. Great post. Like I stated in my post if the media really wants to look at the problem it should be why the Waupaca County police did not doing anything to these punks in the past but that story never gets covered in the media because they don't want to upset the apple cart and that media doesn't sell advertisment or print.

The last thing we need is more taxes, fees and more big brother watching over us. You can bet they will take this issue and try to to help incorporate more rules laws and taxes on us.

One rotten egg still makes all the other eggs smell.

The new law they are trying to pass is not to punish snowmobilers its simply to get the people that ride these trails to contribute to the cause, Yes your registration does that in some way but it does not go very far, the more people that belong to a club the better the system gets, more people to help with maintaining a trail system properly and so on, the raise in fee's is to push more people to join, and I would never want to close a trail because of someones stupid acts. Very often I hear complaints about bad trails or poorly marked corners ect. and 9 time out of 10 its from someone who does not belong to a club and has NO IDEA whats it takes to keep trails open let alone groom and mark them properly. There maybe some trails that get marked by 1 person with limited time our even a club with limited funds that cannot afford to buy every sign they need to do it perfect, so in the end result you get cut corners and that is sad because it does jeperdize saftey and no club wants that. So long story short joning a club wont fix everything bet it sure helps in a big way.

Stopdropanroll,

I think the club membership belongs in a separate blog. NH implemented a similar policy which has led to great improvements my local trails.

Glad those idiots got caught. I can think of a few fitting punishments.... I still wonder how they actually did the deed... Machines must have had damage? Still unbelievable how low some people can go....

NEW YORK: if you join a club;$25, you only pay $45 for reg.
if you do NOT join a club; then you will pay$100 to register.

unfortunatly good ol polititions like sticking there hands in our snowmobile honey pot, cause i sure dont see all that money we pay every year going state wide to all trails and clubs as it is supposed to. i see a majority of that reg money going to ex; (tug hill/old forge) and such, the rest gets swindled to some other state crap. :o|
