What do folks recommend for a replacement. I don't wanna break the bank. Also what are the pointers for changing it? It wasn't too bad, put it on the primary, then started it on the top of the secondary, had someone pull the sled backwards while I worked it on.

What did you have in there before? Original Yamaha belts are hard to beat.

What sled? The 8DN fits almost all of them and is real good price.

This is the Phazer section so would assume a Phazer.

Stock belt.
Can’t remember how to do stock secondary.
I think brake on and turn the inside sheave on secondary. Get the bet low and comes off pretty easy.

No idea what belt was on it when I purchased. I know there were some recalls/TSB's. So 8DN is the winner?

I get 2500 miles out of the 8gk belt, that is about when some cracking shows up between lugs. 8dn is almost identical size wise but a harder compound for higher HP sleds and doesn't grip as good and might slip in certain conditions unless you adjust the clutches for more grip. I tried a used 8dn I had sitting around it worked good on the trail but was slipping some off trail and the clutches ran hotter.

Sled is stock clutching, stock engine, just a few changes like track/shocks. Where is everyone picking up their belts?

Where are people storing these? I had read that some are storing these on top of the clutch shield, does it really fit? Sure doesn't look like it will.

Some have the tunnel storage box just behind the exhaust, which have become rare. My son's 09 GT had a pouch in front between the A-arms behind the front bumper that contained the tool kit and the spare belt all folded up. On top of the belt guard is on the RS. I doubt it would fit there on the Phazers as the plastic goes right on top of it.
For the ones in the front pouch, be sure to check it and use it on a regular basis as some have had them break being folded up like that.
The 07-08 Phazers and Venture Lite/MP came stock with the 8GS-17641-00-00. Later years and the early ones updated for the reverse shifting issues use 8GK-17641-10-00. I have no idea regarding the 8DN. I do know that the 8GS lasts very well on my MP. The 8GK has blown a couple times with my son's 07 FX but he's hard on his sled and was basically pinning it when they blew. He might have also had clutching issues since he also would hit the rev limiter.

I just stick the belt in windshield mounts between the riser and the windshield, it has never came out on its own even though it sits loosely. I really don't like storing belt the way the factory box or bag store them, the sharp backwards bend isn't good for the belt.

Thanks for the feedback, anybody see any issues with riveting a belt clip on the back of the sled and putting the belt in that? Sleds don't sit out, so sun on the belt wouldn't be an issue. Also some more info is I have an 08 which had the belt jammed up front, and then my 07 has the storage in the back. PowerMadd used to make a storage container that I think I could make work. I have reached out to them and they have no and no longer produce it. I would really like to rivet something on the back of the 08 to store the belt and some tools in, I have removed the front storage system as it is just too cramped and I could see in icy conditions that being a bear to remove! Anybody seen any plastic storage units that would work? I think put some foam in them to keep things from bouncing around.

Not the optimum storage place but I put mine in my yami backpack. Belt, shovel, basic tools. Water and snacks. Pack is small, rides high on back and very light. Easy off and on with only one clip under chin. Doesn’t bounce around.
Had the bag under arms but reading here about the way it’s bent so tight it cracks I took the storage bag out.

What about something like this on a phazer MTX? I could take the yamaha toolbox off of my MTX and put it on the RTX.
