brake caliper hittin rotor

The 17 LE had the race brake installed on it.

Brake disk is not that bad, just has a small amount of alum buildup on it. First good hard application of the brakes will take care of that.
Did not realize just the LE had that style rotor. Even his caliper guard is very different from mine!

I would certainly clean that rotor up first before using!

That whole brake had to wobbling like crazy? Its very possible the wedge was not seated correctly and wobbled badly and pushed out that bearing retainer ring? OR before wedge install the brake/bearing itself was not seated correctly against the tunnel/onto shaft when installing 3 bolts that hold brake to tunnel.
If both snap rings are in place, (rotor and gear in gear case) both ends of that shaft, I wonder how that rotor moved over enough to hit the caliper body?

ya i dusted it off with a scotch wheel! gonna run it again tomorrow n check everything again, on another note my first ride on a winder was pretty wicked totally different than my apex, id have to say fun factor with a uncoupled is cool! from the apex i could never get transfer and even back to the no action pro action srx triple n vmax back in the day! its a blast!

Its been said by Knapp and I strictly follow this.. You need to do small torques on the wedge and spin the track after each small torque until you reach you final torque.. So if your going 48 pounds i do like 4 torques just putting 10-12 pounds on and then spin track and repeat until 48lbs as example. I just set at desired number and do short torques, spinning after each one.. Make sense? Normalize the wedge on shaft

Possible the chain case side gear is amiss? I see what your saying though! :dunno:.

That brake pad just still looks(picture) like its not attached to the pin that holds in place.. Never seen a pad that low on the rotor?

Its a PEFI aftermarket belly pan guard, thats not a stock piece, and I'm not sure where the stock rotor guard is with the bolts in place on there. ??

took it out today 70 mikes , and that clip came out again and bearing looks like its moved out ward abit , not sure what would be causing this

did you check your chaincase the first time? other than that or the drivers moved im not sure. New snap ring and bearing would be on my short list of things to change out, also check to see if the snap ring groove is in good shape, but im not sure how anything like that can happen on the brake side and the chaincase not be affected, like the snap ring coming off the bottom gear, ect

well at least you have that peace of mind.....now to pulling the brake caliper and seeing what is going on with the bearing......unless somebody has a better idea, that is what i would do lol.

drive chain looks tensioned enough? not whipping around or anything?
