I have never ever seen this happen before. Sent the pictures to all my sledding friends and no one else has either. 500 miles, 7.5 studboy shapers on sly dog skis . I'm going to send the pics to the company. And of course this happened on a back pack trip in the U.P. Had to buy new skis because no one carried the carbides for the aftermarket skis. $350 morning plus paying to ship my skis home.

I have seen it.....done it....
Depending on the model, the Slydog skis do flex. The trail ski more than the race ski.
If you put the nuts on the carbides too tight, they will break. After I broke one, I just snugged the lock nuts, and never broke another.

bent one on a stock apex ski in same spot. never broke one off like that though.

Yes, same size SHAPER BAR as well. On my '02 Viper. Which I do believe were on my SlyDog Ski's at the time. Was sending up a nice rooster of snow from the ski, was how I noticed it. Been hesitant to buy Shaper's since.

This is why I'm a fan of factory skis. Any skidoo dealer can fix me up.
Obviously, you should have back up carbides as well. I broke one this year similar to you.
Shaper are not the most durable carbide. Jmho.

I bent one pretty bad awhile back but never broke it! I was really surprised as I don't remember hitting anything bad. I just noticed my sleds handling was acting funny.

BTW.......I still use shapers, I believe they work as intended but have sacrificed durability.

Whatever......

USI project skis on my apex with 8"shaper bars ....10,550miles on first set (still turned well) Second set 8,400 miles and counting...

This is a common problem with the shaper bars. I can show you the last two sets that prematurely broke on Curve skis. I don't run them anymore and have since gone to the SnowStuds magnum round bars. The magnums hold up and work well.
