Broken shock

Replaced shock lasted 70 miles replaced that one with my old rear shock that mechanic rebuilt and revolved it, also new Center shock 40 miles later, done. Dealer now trying to get the QS3 rear skid shocks for me.
Hopefully this is a one time occurrence. Warranty only replaces with the same spec parts. I'm not a hard rider, but love the ability to stand up over my apex.
I am sorry Chris it was Good Times that blew 3. Hopefully you are right and its a one time thing. Do you have a picture? When you say lower Eyelet split open did it split on bottom where it mounts or did it split where it is screwed onto the shock body?

Sorry no picture, the eyelet that the lower (rod) end that split open into a 'c' shape. I'm 62 yrs old and don't ride very hard.

In your first post you said Yesterday it was bottoming. Do I take that to mean before yesterday it wasn't bottoming much? If so sure looking like it was a defective eyelet.

My riding group consists of 13-70 year olds. I don't smash through bumps just ride like I have for the last 35 years. Only sled I've ever had shock issues with. I came off a ski doo 136 1200 turbo 2012 X package. 24,000 Kms only rebuilt shocks once. I'm sure it's just cheap shock issues.

Cannondale, yes initially bottoming out occasionally, when I was riding alone last Sunday on my return trip it started to handle strangely. No banging or other noises. I am wondering if the shock isn't too short?

Not seeing your pics. I will say there has been a few cases of bad shocks right from factory.

It was a little video. Tried twice guess it was too big.

Are the broken shocks all the same, mine are the standard base shock (ltx-dx).

Almost 4weeks, still waiting for parts. Holidays shot, no snow, just wonderful!! The parts are cat. Not happy.

Wish you were closer I could have you going in a day. Can you ship USA? I believe all the 17 DX's are using the 2.0 shock in rear now. That Eyelet is same from Cat also. If they are dealing with Yamaha they only offer a whole shock as a fix. Cat offers parts individually for the shocks. If your dealer calls Yamaha they will approve use of AC parts to fix the broken shock.

My dealer is 20minutes from Canada HQ. Don't know why it is taking so long to get parts that have been around for a few model years. Got the old (347mi) track to remove the studs. Every time I call I hear another peice is needed. Track back to dealer, lots of fun removing studs!!
