Lonn called me this afternoon to tell me about a situation that could happen and wanted to make sure everyone is setting the Thunder Products secondary adjuster correctly.
The secondary adjuster is to be used for adjusting the secondary to maintain correct belt tension. To do this adjustment correctly, you need to have plenty of water or snow for lubrication on the slides. If you have the sled on the stand and the slides are not lubricated...a couple times around under power, the track clips will get warm and the track start to stick to the slides. You want to refer to your owners manual, or adjust the adjuster out until the track doesn't creep. This may take a couple times to get the belt deflection correct. Once you have the secondary adjuster set, tighten the bolt that holds the adjuster in place.
Using the belt removal tool screw
When using the belt removal bolt/screw supplied with the kit....... You DO NOT need to loosen the secondary adjuster. Place the tapped hole in the adjuster at 6 o'clock position. (Straight down from the secondary bolt). *****To do this correctly, move the sled forward or backward or grab the clutch itself and turn the clutch till the threaded hole used for the belt removal tool is towards the bottom of the sled*****. This will keep any debris that has accumulated in the threaded hole used for the belt removal to fall onto the secondary shaft or secondary adjuster creating a binding or thread galling problem to the adjuster.
Any questions or concerns?
