Thunder Products Questions

The Gates Carbon Cord belts work well for performance and consistency....I ran them on the cat, the doo 1200 loved them. But the cat could eat them fast. They are a softer belt aimed at performance. Dont expect it to last any longer then a 8JP. Similar in cost too. But Gates comes with a 1 yr warranty so you can get a new one.

I believe the way to go is to run the MUCH CHEAPER 8DN($55) for trail riding day to day....Pile the miles on the cheaper 8DN and set your deflection up so it rides like a DOO belt, Top cogs over the 2ndary. Then run the 8JP for radar runs and any time you need all your top speed. 8DN is a very hard belt, compared to others.

What I hope for more then anything...is the clutching works properly, efficiently so the belt life is back to Yammie type expectations...Glide washers IMO are a MUST for any setup, even stock....Since the stock LONG primary spring tended to BREAK last yr due to binding(over 3000 miles or so)....Clean up those spring seats in primary, add 2 glide washers(Lonn sells them) and likely cure that issue.

Lonn made it sound as the Gates belt would outlast the 8JP and that the 8Jp would put off a fine rubber mess that would stick to everything under the hood. I am returning the 8jp from the sled purchase and buying the gates on his advise. getting gates for same price as 8jp.

JOE,get the helix it just helps get on boost sooner and in the deep the back shift with a 137 is much better .It's not revy if you feel it is ,add weight to the ramps ,simple .ENJOY
Thanks Ken. Like I said I may end up ordering one later. For now I will go with the stock helix and when I go 33/35 I will have something to compare it to.

There won't be any to be had then .The sled should of had a 33 to begin with .The 129s are ok ,the 137 and longer suffer down low

Guys,Dalton has some nice selection of reverse angle helix,s,cheaper to. His are 33/37
35/37
35/39
32/38 and maybe one or two more.i think he also has a 32/36 that one I may try first.

Terry and Tim are great they test, ride and race the products and know they work and why they work.

Does the big venom kit for the sidewinder (V-58) on their website come with the new orange secondary spring now?

No it does not it like another $30.00. It comes with a orange primary spring though.

Ok, that's a little confusing as on their website under the V-58 description it says it comes with a secondary spring and makes no mention of a primary spring unless I'm missing something.

Quote from website: "Comes with everything you need—Heavy Hitter adjustable flyweights, secondary spring, glide washers, clutch holder, all for only $299"

I know when i bought my clutch kit at Hay Days it was an extra @30.00 unless the website is a typo and means primary not secondary because they are both orange. you can call them and ask i guess.

The kit comes with the primary spring. Secondary spring is extra. I'll let Lonn know about the typo on site.
