So this afternoon while filling the tank the fuel gauge read just below full even though she was physically full. I compressed the suspension in the rear and the gauge was right. She burped... took another gallon and was good to go. I had seen friends with doos have to do this but it was a first for me. Anyone else have had this happen?

Yes I believe these tanks have an air pocket in back, same as my doo.

On a side note, I ran the SW out of gas on my lake testing, no LOW FUEL light was on and it showed about 1/4 tank on gauge. Once the sled died, It then showed low fuel light! grrrr.....

On my doo the fuel light comes on with 3 gals left.

Anyone else know when low fuel light comes on? It must been too late cause it ran out!...LOL

I got a good workout walking off my lake! haha

Yep! If you want a full tank of gas on a Cat or YamaCat you need to compress the rear suspension and burp it. I can get between 1 & 1.5 gallons more when compressing the rear suspension. Usually 1.5 if I stay on the bumper and Buddy fills and puts cap on before suspension released.

My light came on and I drove another 3-4 miles before I got to my trailer. Filled it up and it took 9.2 gallons.

Not much left after light comes on. Yeah my friends Apex still has 3 gallons left after his light comes on.

This is good info, hopefully this thread will prevent others from getting stranded!

Never had that happen but once light came on there is not much left. 13-15 miles after light came on then it ran out on me twice. Nice to have the fuel caddy. Beats walking. lol.

3 times my light came on. All three times took 7.5us gals +/- and that includes burb. Which for me has been .5us gals

Testing fuel light and gauge for accuracy.

Don about how many miles were you getting when you ran her dry? Heading to Ontario later this month and don't want to have a problem. Thanks.

I was riding in Quebec, 110 miles and light wasn't on yet. Apex with me ran out!

My fuel light came on last year. We were in the middle of no where and was able to do another 30+ km even though the gauge had no bars. I was pleasantly surprised and grateful. The Polaris Switchback and the 08 GSX 600HO were also on fumes.

Yes a Viper but as they share the same tank, pickup and gauge set up as a Sidewinder, I thought it would be relevant.

Went 10 km with light on up in bonfield last weekend. Sled took 33.9 lites so still had a bit left.

When the lights come on is it after all of the dark bar is gone or is it like the last little bit of the bar and when empty its all gone?
