I'm considering finally buying an Attak. My current sled is an '01 Tcat stretched to 136". Previously I did the same thing to my ZR800. I will never own anything less than 136" again. I've liked the ATTAK since it came out, but I am concerned with all the skid/track/idler issues posted here. Which lead me to wonder if anyone has put a Cat (or any other brand) skid in one of these sleds? Would be interesting to see if these issues would go away after such a swap. If I buy an Attak, I have this feeling that I would want to ditch the mono skid right away.

Mono is 10 times better than anything cat makes, and much more suited to the particular sled.

haven't had a single problem w/my mono in my attak. 1400 trouble free miles this year, wouldn't trade the mono skid for anything!

I have a 136 T-cat skid in my RX1. The ride is incredible, transfer is awsome and the durability and slide wear has been puurfect.... I have an oversize adjuster block set in the second positon.

That would be the dumbest thing, I ever seen anyone do. The mono blows the Cat skid away, even with the idler wheel issues.

I put a 07 M8 Cat skid in my RX. It is 10 times the skid compared to the stock 151 Pro-A.
I've heard good and bad about the mono. Good ride, but can't take abuse (06's).

What are all OUR buddys at A-Chat.com going to say when another member adds a YAMMI to their fleet. And to think...you used to bust my BALZ cause I own a 1-TON. how much for skid?
I got a o7 attak and it has been great so far and have to agree not sure a cat skid would ride anybetter than a mono with the ohlins. I own 2 900 cats so I am able to compare the ride and my zr9 sp doesn't ride nearly as good as my attak.

You'd have to experience it to appreciate it.
MM, you have me confused with someone else. I don't dog anyone for what they ride. You can do a search with my name and any brand name on any forum and you won't find any bashing from me. I'd rather not get into your comments from A-Chat on this forum. If you feel I've ever offended you, PM me.

Thanks Fullback! Did you have to do any mods, to the skid or the sled?

Have you ridden an attack? What makes you think the cat is better? If you are concerned about the wheels then change the wheels. However, a cat skid is not necessary... and yes, the mono skid is a durable suspension if set up correctly. i weigh 260+ and put mine through hell riding tug hill. I go through my sled before every ride and no problems.

TallCool 1, The only 2 things that really had to be done to my RX1 was to purchase 2 additional Yamaha front mount plates for inside the tunnel and fabricate a couple of rear drop brackets for the back from 1/8" steel. You can get the center to center measurement from the cat. The ride, transfer and handling improvement cannot be overstated from the Proaction. As far as transfer it pulls the skis just like a T-cat. I have the original springs in it with ACT shocks and billet adjuster blocks fron HPE. I put some hard miles on it this winter trail riding and just had a blast... NO problems with the sled OR my back. Top end has also increased due in part I believe to the much better approach angle of the track. Not having a Mono to compare it to I can't say how much better or worse it might be.

BS, two of my friends have them, and I've only been able to spend a little time on one of them...definitely not enough time to experience the mono in ALL types of conditions. There are two basic concerns I have (based on comments from owners on this forum): 1. chewing idlers/straps/clips, and 2. guys saying the Attak does not do well off trail in the powder. Do both of these issues have to do with the angle of the track? I dunno...that's why I asked about putting a different skid under there. I also realize there are owners like you that haven't experienced any problems with the skid and it's parts. But Murphy's law tends to work against me sometimes, so you could say I'm just trying to gather as much info as possible before buying so I have fewer surprises on the other end.
More important than the wear issues though, is the alleged inability to enjoy the powder with these sleds. After stretching my ZR and Tcat to 136", I've really come to enjoy spending a whole day off trail in the fresh stuff. I was pleasantly surprised how well my Tcat does in the powder with the longer track, even with it's "weight problems", lol. I do have a pair of Poweder Pros on it, so I'm sure they help too. I would not be happy if I had to give up playing in the powder with any new sled.
Also, isn't the ProActive CK thought to be the better of the two Yammi skids? If so, why, and is there a chance of them putting that skid in the Attak chassis in the near future? Why don't they do it now?
Fullback, thanks again, but one more question....do you play in the powder? If so, what differences did you notice after swapping skids?
Thanks guys!
