Catch can

That looks like just a pressure switch @ ~5PSI to dump 12V to the beeper? I suppose by the time pressure is built up in the tank if you just shut off and let the sled sit the engine bay gets warm enough to melt the ice in the valve opening it up. I like it.

Exactly, it takes like 25 to 30 psi to blow that gasket from what I can tell and that will happen in less then a min or 2. You can adjust that switch down to about 3 psi
 
I am going to end up doing something about the vent on my sled in the next month or so (partially for something to do). Problem is I spend too much time doing stupid things and will end up with the sled on it's side so I don't want to remove the ROV entirely like some members. On your 2020 SRX with the heated valve I would think that the problem is just what to do with the oil/water. On the 2018 I am thinking more about the valve itself and how to protect it from freezing or thaw it out quickly and blowing the seal out of the tank.

It sounds like Travis just added a second vent going back into the motor. I am not sure how this would help in the event of a frozen valve when the entire oil system becomes pressurized to the point of tank failure. My understanding is that there must be a vent somewhere because as the oil heats up, the air in the motor/tank heats up and expands increasing system pressure. According to my understanding this means that one of two scenarios would happen.

1) In the event the valve freezes the system pressurizes and fails (same as stock)
2) A vent is added and when a rollover occurs oil will dump out of sled (same as ROV delete)

@hibshman25 please correct me, your products always seem to be very well thought out so odds are I am missing something or not understanding it correctly.
 
Hey Sidewinder convert,sounds like your way over thinking this.If you want the option of keeping rov, just order the 2020 heated kit(125 Canadian or 80 us)and then vent out bottom of sled.Catch can option can still be done afterward also,a cheap one is $29 ca or about $15 us off of Amazon.Install of the heated valve is straight forward and if you are venting out bottom of sled or to catch can you do not have to cut hole in air box .

I almost certainly am overthinking it, call it the engineer in me trying to find the ideal solution combined with coronavirus boredom. I was never going to cut a hole in the air box. Assuming I end up making my own solution what I am thinking right now is vent out the bottom of the sled after the ROV combined with some sort of fix for the valve freezing either a heated valve of some kind or a way to prevent water from getting into the valve in the first place.

I too have had the oil in the air box issue, oil tank never over filled and sled has never been rolled over, I've already ran a high temp. hose from the separator tube that went into the airbox down through a hole I drilled in the plastic about 4" behind the muffler and put a plug in the grommet that is in the airbox.
