Clutch offset question

My belt change tool is a chunk of 1 1/2" PCV pipe 5/8" long. It goes between the large flat washer and pushes on the helix as the clutch hold down bolt gets threaded in. It fits in my tool bag when not in use.
Thats exactly what I was thinking sorta...just carrying something in tool bag. I like the look of secondary with nothing on it....lol

There's mine, but plastic is easier to carry in tool bag

I used Dave's tool today and had to take 3mm off mine to be within spec while keeping the 1mm shim behind it. I like the no float idea. If this doesn't work then that'll be the next thing I try. I do one mod at a time so I know what actually fixed it.
Agree! I need to do this more often! ..lol

Hurricane says it's a combination of both.

The belt running in a straight line as compared to a dogleg.

A belt running in a dogleg can be ripped in half with ease compared to a belt running in a straight line.

Straight line creates even pull across the width of the belt instead of more pull on one edge.

I talked to Hurricane they told me to set 0 float. looked at BOP adjuster and machined my own spacer instead of washers. Setup is 1.1 no float and BOP adjuster. Just did 3 winders like this and all machined secondary shafts. Now to test need snow.

Every time you change a belt with the adjuster do you have to set the deflection all over again?

Yes but I just marked my secondary and count the turns and put it back in same location.

That's why I don't run an adjuster. I like to keep it simple.

This has stirred the Serotonin in my now confused brain so this is where i'm at.
I have made changes already & will run it as is over New Years. I will run it until it blows then i will remove float so i know what the hell did what.

I'm not even sure if Serotonin is what's flying around up there, but something is burning......

Thanks for the info 1nc 2000. I really like how simple you made it. I am gong to take off my brand new, never used belt adjuster and try your set up first this season.

for those that have used Hurricanes tool and made adjustment's, did you recheck the offset of the clutches and were they within factory spec?
