clutch vibration 2020 xtxse

Ya sounds like same issue here ,just found it odd ,seeing my 2017 didnt do it ,might add a spacer to secondary to get belt to ride a little higher and see if it helps any, thanks for info

I now have 400 miles on sled and no change ,I replaced belt to rule that out ,no change ,ran it with belt off and definitely coming from primary, belt deflection and offset all good ,dealer hasn't heard of any issues besides normal clutch rattle so I guess have to take it in when I get a chance

I lust got back form a 153mi ride on my 2020 XTX SE I have the same noise rattle at low rpm 20mph to 30mph. it sounds like some kind of harmonic rattle . I thank I will take it back to the dealer.

It's the bucket of bolts Yamaha primary clutch rattle. The rattle at idle and then also when running down the trail between 3500 and 5000 RPM. Three cylinder four-strokes have severe harmonics at that RPM level. Perhaps someone can build a weight that goes on the back of the primary to help with this, or a Fluiddampner to help. Yamaha worsens it when they keep lightning up the crankshaft for throttle response.

Only way to stop it is change to a TAPP clutch, a Cat Team clutch or a PB80 clutch. Otherwise you will listen to it rattle, which does not seem to hurt anything. I've listened to it for 4000 miles now. Some may do it worse than others, some better, but they all do it. Doesn't matter what you spent on the machine, if you have a Sidewinder and bought it used for under $5K or paid over $20K, the drive clutch is going to rattle and the dealer is going to tell you its normal. There is no way to fix it if its a Yamaha primary. Taking it to the dealer is a waste of your time and theirs.

Well good to know ,just wasnt sure what to think since my 17 model didnt do it ,just the rattle at idle ,my only concern was taking out PTO side bearing eventually, but got 4 year warranty so just going to drive her

yes I sent a video of it to my dealer and they said it was common and ok to run.

Just very annoying, but will deal with it ,not dropping another 1500 or whatever a different primary costs

My guess is the brake rotor and pads. I had the new brake rotor installed and it now rattles just like yours. The new one seems to be catching the pads

Try lightly squeezing the brakes when you hear the noise. See if it goes away like mine does
