Hey.. I'm new here.. cool website BTW ;)!

Got a front mount turbo; I bought Snowfever's old sled.. the junkyard dog.. LOL..

The sled runs great.. but as it warms up it doesn't have the wicked power it has at first.. before all that hot air built up under the hood..

I'm thinking either build a mesh hood..

or remove the dash and have a elbow go up to the dash from the turbo.

Either way the gauges would be relocated to the handlebars..

Anyone have any other ideas.. or who has a experience relocating the air intake.. any noticeable improvements?

Yes, BPE will be offering a slide in hood scoop along with a panel that replaces the stock inspection plate on the bottom side of the sled. Not only will the air get in better, but it will escape the engine compartment better. I have the scoop on my sled and will get some pics for you guys this weekend after im done installing my CPR turbo. Cant wait for snow...BBY

Is the coolant still running through the carbs ? This might be a good place to start. I have 2 turbo sleds w/ the coolant lines disconnected , no problems as of yet.

RXHALLER.. I will check the coolant lines.. I recall the coolant lines making a big difference on my 2 stroke when they were warming the carbs..

Not running coolant thru the carbs there is a good chance for carb icing.

I experienced this last season, ice would form at the outlet of the nozzle.

Caused some very odd, hard to track down problems including activating the TORS as the slide would sometimes not drop all the way down beacuse of the ice ball. Just food for thought :ORC

My sled is also a Bender kitted sled, with a much cooler intake charge.

This works very well with the air filter sticking up through where the dash was.

ken_climb,

I think I will try that first. I can always build a mesh hood afterwards..

Anybody have any suggestions or pics of mounting the gauge on the handlebars? I want to have the boost gauge and a fuel pressure gauge there as well.

SuperDave makes a bracket for either one or two round gauges in addition to the standard instrument pod.
