Here we go folks ... PICS!!!!
Sorry, I don't have my sled completely back together yet. But I've got enough of it that I can show you a few pics of what the outcome is. I tried to document in the pics a bit of what you are looking at, how the intake is now routed, and another side benefit I managed to get out of this mod (a new route for another existing hose). I still have yet to finish putting the hood back together, along with mounting my gauges to the new Cat gauge bracket and figure out how to fasten my windshield to the Cat dash pod. The gauge bracket and windshield mount are unique to the dash pod intake.
For the items I had to purchase (Cat dash, Cat gauge mount, couple of new 90 deg bends, other misc items), I'd say I have roughly $150 into this. It's gonna make a very clean install for a cold air intake.
If there is enough interest, I can start another thread (which I will selfishly title "Turtle's Turbo Intake" ) to document a full 'how to' for this mod.

That looks like a great option! And very clean on the exterior. I'm not big on the filter sticking through the hood! Im going to see how much this would cost to-do in canada.

Curious if this set up will be just a little more restrictive than the intake through the side panel, hopefully enough to keep it off the rev limiter, but not as doggy as the over the clutch guard set up, nice work!

It certainly could be more restrictive. I'm not an expert in this area. But my best guess is that it will be less restrictive. It now has 2 more bends in the path. But the diameter hasn't changed, and I would think the frogskin vent is less restrictive than the air filter. I guess I won't really know until I get it on the snow and can watch my AFR. The change in AFR from the original setup will tell us if we have more, less or the same amount of air. Unfortunately, I won't be able to compare it to the 'outside the hood' MPI method.Curious if this set up will be just a little more restrictive than the intake through the side panel, hopefully enough to keep it off the rev limiter, but not as doggy as the over the clutch guard set up, nice work!

Has anyone tried to mount their intake filter under the radiator, just behind the nose, possibly enlarge the opening under the bumper and put some frogskin on it to help get some cold air in, im not a fan of sucking hot air in of the clutches, be nice to have that sleeper look without any power loss

That's how i did mine i have a hurricane turbo did a 90* off turbo piece of aluminum tube then another 90* down under rad with a uni filter and a sno filter outerwear.Has anyone tried to mount their intake filter under the radiator, just behind the nose, possibly enlarge the opening under the bumper and put some frogskin on it to help get some cold air in, im not a fan of sucking hot air in of the clutches, be nice to have that sleeper look without any power loss

Any other modifications to increase airflow , just to make sure its not taking in the warm air from the radiator, or is the filter low enough that it's not an issueThat's how i did mine i have a hurricane turbo did a 90* off turbo piece of aluminum tube then another 90* down under rad with a uni filter and a sno filter outerwear.
murdered you are off trail mostly. Dont you think up high like Turtle did makes more sense since front is plowing snow half the time?Any other modifications to increase airflow , just to make sure its not taking in the warm air from the radiator, or is the filter low enough that it's not an issue

I prolly run more trail than off, depends which buddies im riding with, no doubt Turtle has a great system going, not sure if its been proven yet but sounds promising, just not sure if routing the filter to the outside will get in my way or not, i have been know to get dismounted off my sled off trailmurdered you are off trail mostly. The uni filter is pointed towards the nose will get cooler air compared to where the uni filter comes from Hurricane in the exhaust area.Any other modifications to increase airflow , just to make sure its not taking in the warm air from the radiator, or is the filter low enough that it's not an issue

I just found out that all of the 2018 mountain Sidewinders come stock with the intake just as I have built. The only difference (outside of it being really nice from the factory) is they use both sides on the instrument panel for intake whereas I only used one side.
He didnt add anything to the outside for you to hit.I prolly run more trail than off, depends which buddies im riding with, no doubt Turtle has a great system going, not sure if its been proven yet but sounds promising, just not sure if routing the filter to the outside will get in my way or not, i have been know to get dismounted off my sled off trail
