I have reached a point where I think it is time to move on from my '03 RX-1. It has an M-10 in it with some mild clutching and it has been a great sled. I found a '06 Apex RTX with 300 miles for sale and i am considering buying it. Any ideas what a fair price would be?
I have gathered there are some issues with the bars/harness, exhaust donuts, and darting. Is there anything else? Is the mono suspension a good suspension? Is the sled cold? I am about 230 lbs geared up for riding. An input is greatly appreciated

The mono is a great groomed trail suspension. Considering the weight, you might have to install a big boy spring. A lot of guys that ride the trails love the mono, over the years Yamaha has tuned it better and better. It is by far not a rough trail sled.
I bought the RTX Pro-active suspesion, which came out in '07 because I ride pretty rough. I still find myself bottoming out all the time.

I went from a 03 rx1 to a 06 apex gt and never looked back.I had thousands of dollars is upgrades done to the rx1 and it still wasnt as good as my apex is.you may want to do some shock revalving and a 13 mm swaybar to it to help the handling. pioneer performance is great at it and reasonable.reshim the skis to ease up the darting effect. If you do the handwarmer upgrade like Rockerdan they will be fine.If you are afraid of being cold get a taller windshield then youll be fine. Its a good upgrade

Here is a review I wrote up for my 06 Apex RTX with 5000 miles on it at the time

As for the price for that sled, I am not 100% sure but I would say it is worth about 6,000$, maybe a bit less or more.

I think a lot has to do with your riding style.
I have an 03 with a ton of upgrades including a stroked Apex motor, Heel clicker II clutch kit, simmons skis, 13 mm bar, Ohlin shocks, Mono shock rear end, shotgun track. And I also have an 05 with the 13mm sway bar, simmons skis, Ohlins and a heel clickerII clutch kit. I bought an 06 RTX new and totalled it 3rd week out but I did put 500 miles on it prior and have ridden several 1000 miles on others in the last 3 years.
I have always been more comfortable with the lean back handle bar style of the RX vs the Apex. As far as the suspension goes I have been on both the mono shock and the later torsion bar rear ends and there is a difference between the 2 but I am 175 lb + gear and did not seem to tax the mono as much as people that are 220lbs or more.
I have 2 friends with 06's and both put 13 mm bars and changed the skis and they love them. The larger of my 2 friends put the big boy spring in the rear and it worked wonders the smaller is about my size and never bottoms out.

Oh yeah I have seen prices depending on miles and condition of anywhere from around $5000 to $6500 but asking price is never the selling price.

You should be fine with stock spring. Move the c clip to 3rd position. I tip the scales about 230 w/o gear. NO problem. 3900 miles I have only seen 1 bad bogey wheel. I am going to look at exhaust donuts b 4 season.

Revalve?
I'm 250 and tried everthing. Hygear was the only solution to the bottoming problem. Pioneer i'm sure could also have done it but I was soooo tiered of the bottoming and bucking, even after a revalve from a local guy. The 06' suspension in stock form is far from RTX ready. 07' and up well the RTX changed completely so I can't comment on that but the Mono did seem to improve. With the clip in the third pos. my set in wasn't even close, it felt like I was riding a monster truck. Tippy and unstable a heck. Probably would have been great of off trailing but no good for trails. My opinion, take it for what it's worth. Search around on here and I think you'll find a common theme.
As for the bogy wheel, again your in the minority, I've toasted a few, but since going to the spoke style, all has been good.
I would definently check your donuts as 3900 miles (aggressive) would be pushing it. If you tend to ride smoother trails they may be fine.
