i have a 15 viper RTX DX what is considered normal coolant temp? I'm running around 170 but have spiked up to 190. Any thoughts temp outside is 20 degrees.

Completely normal......if temp is 190-ish when you turn sled off radiator fan will run for a few seconds......nothing to be alarmed about.......higher than that, get off in some deeper snow or invest in some ice scratchers.........

When I'm moving along at a nice clip it runs at 167, if going 30 mph or slower it creeps up slowly to 180s-190s. Also depends how warm it is outside haha....

Thanks for the input, I was seeing what you described so no worries, happy riding.

Mine is all over the place. 170 when going fast quickly 190 when i slow down and if i get in traffic it will quickly get to 208 causing me to pull over several times. I have ice scratchers and have tried the fan reversal. Its happened every time I ride in all different conditions.

I'm not a big fan of the idea of reversing the cooling fan, I understand that you don't want the hot air being sucked in by the engine for performance reasons, but at any speed the air coming into the radiator and the air being pushed out by the fan would almost cancel each other out, so you might as well count the radiator out for any additional cooling, my sled never really got above 195 and the cooling fan would run and bring the temp back down.

I agree. Being a flat lander, that's forced to run crispy conditions, I think that we have the temperature under control now. Fan is in stock configuration.

We ran well over 1 1/2 hours gridding the fishing contest, at speeds averaging 15-20 mph. I did see 200 degrees once while stopped shooting the breeze. Fan brought it back down to 190 pretty quick. Start moving again and back down to 165-175.

Performance wise, last Saturday, my stock set up saw 93mph pretty easy. 92mph on gps. Wire scratchers were down, with just enough snow for traction going across the lake. Outside temperature was 28-30 degrees.

I only ran the fan reversal for a couple days. I figured for $20 I would try it. I had been running high temps before and was hoping it would help.

Fan doesn't run when you are going at any speed whether fan is forward or reversed unless something else is wrong....neither does your car. The reason is the vents in front can force a lot more air at speed through the radiator than the fan can. Now that being said if you already have a heating issue the fan will come on running and make it worse. Hope that clears that up.
