my rs vector l-tx gt ran hot yesterday, i checked the coolant and there was none in the main tank and none in the overflow tank.
So i put some in the overflow (up to the cold level mark) and i filled up the main tank. i went for a short ride and came back, the main tank was after goin down, so i topped it up again. i cant see any leaks and there was none on the floor of my shed this morning.
where could it have went? or what might cause this to happen in the first place?

Is it going in your oil??? Check your dip stick.

check your oil for coolant, if coolant in oil check waterpump then pull plugs fora look, open your panels and look closely at all hose connections including primary and rear exchangers, and make sure the overflow tube isn't broken off the bottle.

ive checked my oil and theres no coolant in it.
i was talkin to the dealer ship and they thinks my overflow cover might have came off a little bit with pressure and some might have went down over the engine. because i had a puff of steam come up around the handle bars. then i shut the sled off.

None in the main tank seems like a lot of coolant missing. People who ride real hard develop leaks in the running board exchangers from the flexing. You might want to take a good peak at the front exchanger too.

Do a search and get the rear lifted to bleed the air out while running and then top off. It might help to get the font lifted for refilling to send most of the air to the main tank before the bleed. To bleed undo the 2 nuts inside the tunnel on one side of the plastic trim covering the bleed bolt. That will give you enough freedom to access the bolt.

Curious, what year is your Vector?

I installed a rear heat exchanger on mine last summer and the only tank I noticed was the small one with a cap just under the panel between my handle bars and windshield.

I did remove the coolant hose on the left side below the secondary, raised sled front and rear and got most out I believe then refilled it via the small tank again.

After my first ride of the season, after making sure I got most of the air out of during the refill, I only had to add a bit more.
My is an 08 Vector carbed.

i got the Rs Vector L-Tx GT its 2010. under the panel between the handle bars and windshield i had two tanks there.

There could be a hole in a line somewhere above the motor and burning off while running. I had a 1/4" diameter stick go between my air intake plenum and headlight. It poked a hole in the 3/4" hose by the fuel rail. It would leak onto the engine and burn off. Never left a puddle. I thought it was a fluke accident but who knows!!! might even pay to pressure test the system with panels off to find the leak. It's obviously going somewhere!

Is it new or used? If its used, its entirely possible the previous owner did something with the coolant and its not up to total voulme. When changing mine, it took a while for it to accept the 6+ liters of coolant.

Interesting. Anyone have an answer to this?

Thanks for the info. ;)!

I was surprised when you posted you didn't have an overflow tank so I looked in the parts fiche - sure enough the overflow tank shows up on the Vector 1 year after yours.

Thanks AJ, was thinking my vision was worse than I thought and I was really questioning myself how I couldn't have seen it? ;)!
