Have you changed the spark plugs? just a thought. this happened to me once and a new set of plugs and she fired right up. I am sure a Tech will have better ideas.

sounds like a bad battery or charging system. new plugs would not hurt either. are you shure it was not heat soaked? in tempuratures like we have been having lately, you need to turn off the coolant flow to the carb heaters or wait untill it is cold (engine) before starting it.

Give It a shot of fuel when you turn It over, I had this Issue before and asked on the board. Many people said just give It a shot of fuel and It will fire up. This may not be normal but It works for me. Mine won't start without a shot of fuel.

unhook and rehook all of the conections on the cdi and ecu in the nose cone. look for corrodide wires, or loose wires

the 03 had wires rub through at the front right of the sled, near the tool box. the harness rubs on a sharp edge and causes all kinds of running/starting problems. repair and cover with a piece of heater hose.

What grader said. This problem has been talked about a bit on this site and as you said when you pick at the wires she works. Do a very thorough check of all the wires and connections in the nose of the sled and you SHOULD find something wrong up there. If it's not there then it is for sure somewhere else in the harness. But after reading stuff on this site for a nice while I'd definately start at the nose of the sled. Hope this helps, maniac.

Coils, starter, entire wire harness, contacts on the battery?

battery check/harness check/starter check/ coils???
battery check/harness check/starter check/ coils???

I highly doubt it's the coils but they are a possibility. Len Todd, one of the tech advisers on this site has a pdf. file that explains how to clean and check the coils.

It has to be something electrical somewhere. Maybe a wire cracked inside the harness.
