curve skis: slim jim's or shapers? leading edge?(with heavy studding)

I have tried the curves with the leading edge with both slim jims and shaper bars. I prefer the shaper bars over the slim jims for aggressive cornering.

I have only tried the Curves with SJims.
No darting but a bit of push in corners, but just soooo smooooth.

I despise darting!

What is the leading edge with SJims?

I run C&As with 6" woodys slim jims and it is night and day over the tuners. No darting and very easy steering. Very happy with my setup.

sj another option is the bergstrom triple points, I used these this past season on the curve ski. They are a very aggressive carbide and wear exceptionally well. I used the 6" but the next time I plan on using the 8". They last a couple of seasons or more as well. They will not push and bite extremely well, darting is very minimal at best.

Here is my take. Sorry if a bit long:

I have Curves on all my sleds, with 6" slim Jims across the board. Nick at Curve thought the leading edge would be too much for the SW....but actually they work great. I had bad push when set on shock setting #1, in 8" powder. (192 studs). All sleds in group pushed though. Had ski lift too. Bumped up to #2, and the Curves held the line through corners. Limiter is one hole in from full out. Maybe 2?....but basically that area.

On the 2 stroke '12 cat....I realized i do not have enough weight on the skis to work correctly. I was looking for the DooDong deal of being "flick-able" and had my limiter all the way out. Between that and the lighter 800 engine.....I just couldn't get the benefit of Slim Jims and Curve skis. I lighted the air shocks before the trip, and tried pumping them back up mid trip. Once again, it was like night and day, and the skis bit into turns. Once I pull the limiter up, I think I'll be better.

On the Apex, (also trail studded) I rode 500 miles shimed. I had severe wear on the SJs, on the front only. Remember: the Apex spindles on '11 to something was slightly changed.....putting a lot of forward pressure on the skis. Well, the shims worked, but I felt something wasn't right. I rode the second 500 miles of a saddle bag trip w/o the shims......and I was back to the incredible carving the Curve/Slim Jims provide. I'd rather replace the carbides and have sharp cornering vs just ok.

So I also rode a '17 SkiDoo Enduro 1200, same timeframe. I keep hearing these goons say how great the handling is, SkiDoo rocks, ect. They're club members....but probably eat their own boogers, because I thought it handled freaking scary. Now the disclaimer is that the retractable carbide was all the way up. But wtf, that sled was all over the trail. At 35 mph I could hardly keep it on my side, and about clipped a guy coming my way......on a freaking straight away. Also, the owner is probably 100 lbs heavier.

I couldn't get off that Doo fast enough. Felt like a tank without any control. Back on the Winder, I could feel a sigh of relief. Both were smooth for sure. But mine rides like four razors cutting through butter. Nothing is more scary than being a light guy on a Apex with stock skis and Yamaha stock carbides. That said....the Enduro to me was a close second. Of course, at the next stop....I was like: " Oh yeah, 'dem SkiDoos shur es smooth!" "Boy 'o boy...SkiDoos is like 'da Cad-E-Lak of 'da snow!" All while thinking they bought a Malibu or Taurus type sled.....just ok, and a lot to be desired.

So what I guess I'm saying is they'll work great together if you have enough ski pressure on them. The Leading Edge will break up the ruts, and help push SkiDoo belt pieces to the side. They"ll also help the skis ride over Poo pistons laying in the trail!

Hope this helps! I couldn't be happier with the SW w/ Curves and Slim Jims.

anything negative to report? heavy steering? darty? etc
The leading edges help control the darting. I damaged one and noticed a difference in darting right away.
I am happy with the way the leading edges and shaper bars handle on the curves but find the shaper bar durability not great. Next season once they wear out I am going to try Bergstrom carbides with the leading edges on the curves for added durability (I hope)

I have Curves with 6 inch slim jims. Rode like its on rails in hard pack with zero darting. In the powder it floated good and pushed in the corners like Q. Arrius said. I pulled my limiter strap in 2 holes and now it rides great in the powder. I honestly never rode with the stock tuners but..............two of my buddies do and they have ZERO problems with them and they can hang with anyone in the group. Its all how you setup the sled. If I recall correct correctly, Steve OCD did a bit testing in early March comparing stock Tuners to Curves and pretty much came to the same conclusion.

I have curves on my apex with shapers and the leading edge. I thought the leading edge was a waste of money didn't see much of a change and sled still darted no matter how i aligned it, the shapers bite well but like someone else said they are not all that durable, low snow conditions and cornering caused them to break off in half on several of them. If i stay with curves on my srx i am gonna try slim jims, although i am leaning towards cna xpt skis this time

DMCTurbo what c&a skis do you have,I’m looking at getting xpt I dislike the tuners very unpredictable
Thanks Pan
