Cutting track windows

just cut the windows out you wont be sorry-it all has to do with the bottom line $ trust me on this-cmaoplast makes a few hudred tousand of these a year and say they save 10.dollars a track-lots of loot huh?
they claim the snow retention idea to hide the fact that its cheaper to build-if you see a track on snow in motion at say 40mph-watch where the snow enters and exits-it enters in the front rail portion and exits out the back just above the rear wheels on the OUTSIDE of the track-very very little goes out the windows-and whatever snow does leav the windows it gets stuck up in the tunnel only to melt on the exh and drip down later!
so with all that said cutting the windows has no ill effect -ive been doing it for years-it does however negate any track warranty
ps drill about a hundred 1/8 inch holes about 6mm deep into the bottom of the hyfax-they will last forever!

For whatever it is worth, I have an '07 Attak with a Ripsaw, every 3rd window closed. And I put the Ice Ripper (basically a RipSaw with studs built into the track lugs) on my SRX last year which I just noticed has EVERY window OPEN, and clipped every 3rd. There has to be a reason they have every window cut out on the Ice Ripper, which is a newer design than the RipSaw. I plan on opening every window on the RipSaw on the Attak, it only makews sense. I'm going to use the 1 1/8" holesaw method, as I do not plan to do any additional clipping. Just my $.02.

Well, I have all of the windows cut out. I used a 1" hole saw. Worked really good. The drill bit in the hole saw arbor was a little big, so I drilled a pilot hole with a smaller bit first. That did the trick!! ;)!

Well you whole cutters............lets see some of this butchery. I've never seen wholes cut like that on a track.

I bought the sled used, so I am not sure of the exact length. The studs are woodys mega bites with the long collar nuts. (I will try and measure them)
He seem to do a great job installing them. You can see some scrap marks on the exhaust protector, from the studs hitting a few times.
I had the heavier rear spring installed and the rear shock revalved. I think that should help. There are no other problems that I can see.

his studs are 1.325 megas..
double single pattern..most likely woody's...I plan on running the same on my 136" with a modified stud boy pattern

just got done fully clipping mine-cut the holes with a stanley knife and clipped with camoplast ribbed "for her pleasure" clips
amazing how much easier the track rotates

just finished mine (with the skid out) what a b*tch...but noticed it bends easier...who knows, might free up some ponies!
