Dalton Black/Orange secondary spring

Even when I went back to complete stock secondary I had 2 washers in the center and was still a little too high around 9100 to 9200. Like I said I do like the 33/35 helix. Allen's instructions were heel and center empty and tungsten and 4 washers in the tip. And 1-9 for 100 degrees on the 42/36 helix. I'm gonna run the setup I have with 33/35 helix then try stage 2 of Allen's. I may give the blk/blue dalton primary spring a try just for the heck of it but I'd guess I'll probably have to throw some weight in the heel with the stage 2 setup

With allens stage 2 set up,were you to run his 30/90 pink primary spring with the stm,s set up that way, just tip weight?

yes 6/1 as others said....

and most importantly Dalton says this is closest to stock setup(3/3 on stock spring)

Not a fan of reverse angle helix but the OP did not mention tune or stock hp?

I think the straight 35 can work fine overall....and i like my 39/35 with the quick spool tunes.

Rocker Dan, in your opinion would I benefit getting rid of the stock helix and going with the Dalton 35 or 33/ 35 with the Dalton black and orange spring. Primary would be completely stock and sled as well for awhile yet no tune. ? Thanks from a newbie.

For you guys that installed the dalton black orange spring how did it fit in the pocket of the helix? Was installing my new 39/35 helix tonight and I noticed the spring coil doesn’t really sit in the pocket of the helix like the stock or orange thunder products spring does.

It’s like the spring coil is to large and it kind of sits on the outside of the spring pocket on the helix. I will attach a pic but it’s kind of hard to see.
Just received mine today and installed it seems to fit the same as you for me. And thats trying stock helix and the dalton 33/35 fit the same as well like that

I seem to have a lot more belt dust with the dalton black orange secondary spring at 6-1 I also noticed the paint rubbing off on one of the coils on the side of it after 300 miles with it. I did not have this with the stocker. My stocker has no rub or wear marks on it at all Any thoughts on why the paint is rubbing off verses my stock spring. I think I might be going back to the stock secondary spring.

Im going to be testing 3/3 on dalton b/o . Along with stock helix, a lighter primary and new lower offset. Finally heading to Qc, as we have had not riding here for over 3 weeks since we lost trails.

Hoping for a trouble free trip without belt issues.....I have a damn seep in oil tank but still up to level OK, so It should get me thru I sure hope it does not all the sudden leak out when im on trip.

Hope your trip works out Dan. I think I will be going to 3-3 as well. Still confused as why the Dalton Black orange has the rub marks and my stocker didnt. Almost makes me think the Dalton diameter is bigger or maybe I got a defective spring.

I've been running it at 3-3. Works great and clutches are cool.

Mine were Definately warmer at 6-1 with the dalton black orange than stock spring at 3-3. But still could hold hand on them. Seemed to have alot more belt dust as well.

We had a guy break the Dalton B/O spring this past weekend wrapped at 6-1. We were 100km in on a backpack trip, luckily we were only a few kms from a dealer and they were nice enough to pull a stock spring from a sled on the showroom floor. He's going to contact Dale but something to be aware of, could just be a one off.

. 21121Ok guys took my dalton black orange out you can see what I mean by rubbing in picture. 1500 miles on stocker and no rubs like this. Also I noticed on the one end of spring right before correct me if I am wrong the tang ( clutch newbie) there is a almost kink in the coil its not perfectly round like rest of coil. I

s this just the way it is on one end or bad spring? You can kind of tell in second picture but can see it better with naked eye. Any thoughts and help is appreciated.
