Anyone know what the dtya-1 weights weigh empty? My scale is at my buddies. Paperwork says 73.6 but for some reason I thought they weight more empty.
Running them with 5/8th screw now but only pulling 8650 tops. Running TD Max Spool 17 and a Dalton 41/35 Helix with blk/orange updated spring wrapped at 70. Also using pink spring from Ulmers kit in primary. Anyone else running a setup close to this? Can't remember forgive me if I wrap my secondary to 80 degrees will I gain or lose rpms? And how many rpms? Headed to Ft Kent this weekend wanna really see how this Max Spool 17 performs. Thanks guys

Mine weigh 75.1. 5/8” is 2.5. Tighter may gain some rpms. Not knowing the specs of the pink spring is a problem. I would start by removing the screws and seeing how many rpms you gain Then add lighter screws if you go over 9000 rpms.

Funny,i have same ulmer pink primary, and have same Dalton ramps, but mine are ground down to make them work with my max 16 td tune, and I also want to run my Dalton 41/35 helix I have along with my new Dalton blk/org at 80 degrees, will let you know end of next week, waiting on my MO-FLOW vents to come in. Them ramps empty are 74.9 on my digital scales, and I did run them last year with one small set screw and stock 35 with Dalton first offering of his blk/org spring at 60 degrees, with stock 8jp belt, also I had Dalton blk/blu primary spring, and my old belt had just over 1,000 miles on it,and it is my only blown belt on my 17 winder, now with over 4300 miles.Anyone know what the dtya-1 weights weigh empty? I'll throw in my 5 cents here.....
Not sure what the rates are on the Ulmer primary spring, but if similar to stock spring, here are some suggestions.
Your weights are a little too heavy, especially with that helix!!
Wrapping secondary tighter will raise rpm. Set secondary to 80 degrees and put 3/8 slug in (73.6 +1.3 = 74.9) and shoot for 9000 rpm.
If feels lazy, put stock 35 helix to 70 degrees of wrap.

I still use an OHAUS triple beam scale and I get 74.6

Good advise fleecer, the ulmer pink is close to stock for overall shift, but much less engagement, which is what I like about it,now that being said,i found my stock primary spring, and may play with it some, even with my Dalton dtya-1,s I have lightened up some, and may even give the 41/35 a try again, although my stm 38 works great.I'll throw in my 5 cents here.....

Having low engagement is nice, but when in conjunction with steep helix hinders turbo spool time imo.

Yes I 100 % agree with that assumption,it does hinder that fact, but for most of my riding, and who I ride with,it does not much matter, but my gas milage does,i have started to leave my extra 2 gal container home,so I am now not quite feeling as brave as I once was.Having low engagement is nice, but when in conjunction with steep helix hinders turbo spool time imo.

I have that exact same scale! Good deal on ebay for $8.99. I compared it to our very expensive quality lab scales at work and it is spot on.

According to the Turbo Dynamics website the Max Spool 17 is supposed to be 285 HP. With those weights and that 5/8" set screw you should be in the 77 grams range. I realize there are other variables like the helix angle, the primary spring, the secondary spring and twist. But for reference my buddy runs a Hurricane 270 flash and is running close to the same exact weight with Dalton's and his pulls in the 87-8900 rpm range. That is on a LTX-LE with a 1.5 Ripsaw II track with no studs.
