Not surprised @ all by what the Manu's did! I give kudos to Yamaha for there releases, I think they did enough to freshen up there line up for 2010. You've got a couple of reworked sleds(Nytro MTX, Vector) and the most valuable is continuing to work with current models! For those that were all talk about a 2010 200+hp 4-Tec I mean come on, let's put out a sled for one year & next year we'll jump it by over 70hp! I like new stuff just as much as the next guy but brand new models every year equal big headaches for the consumer & lots & lots of b&$@/$ng! Looking forward to riding the rest of this winter(big snowfall coming) and riding my XTX in 2010! Still tons of great sleds to chose from!

pat the rat said:its a good point, but did the other 3 get 100% on that same exam,i dont think so,the biggest sled manufacturer cant even figure out the motors, the most important item on a sled
I agree. I don't think they got a 100% either, not even close, but lately I have only expected an 80% from them depending on the model. The other 3 manufactures have become "B- Students" IMHO.

Doo..... They cant improve any more.. they are super light and fast and get the best gas mileage of any of the sleds..
Polaris.... The new sled looks ver cool to me, very interesting.. too bad its only a 600.. I cant believe anyone still buys polaris..
Cat.. they have a 500 Race chassis sled.. Very cool, again too bad its only 88hp.. THere is no room in there for a 800 with FI and an oil pump.
Yamaha.. Well atleast the handle bars are getting better and they have a couple orange sleds.. Still need improving in the handling and weight department..

I am happy with Yamahas line up for 2010. Yeah it would have been nice for something truly new but the fact they are addressing past issues is great IMHO.
I think people are upset with yamaha because they have so much potential, and in their eyes they got an 89% on a math test for which they easily could have got a 100%. Just my 02 cents
I agree, they have the potentiel to make an earth shattering weapon and they just don't seem to want to do it. I believe that's what gets everyone upset. Everyone knows that Yamaha has the potentiel to just blow them right out of the water. My DOO dealer told me that for years... He always said if they really wanted to end the game they could do it.
Yes, if you now look at their lineup, it's not bad I guess compared to everone else.

I third that...
Why the hell wont they just build a 180hp monster.. ???? why are they so content building the same old same old..
These companys really need to think outside the box..

I don't agree Doo can't improve -
I'm disapointed Doo didn't come out with an "HO" version of the 1200? That motor today, with just a single throttle body, talk about untapped resources! IMHO the motor has serious potential for improvements - and betting they have it running right now. This sled is in a position to damage it's competition big time with just a little more power. I really figured they would jump on the chance to kill....

Another thing is Yam released their new iron earlier than everyone else...Had they released at the same time as the other 3, I think there would have been less disappointment when comparing what the other manufactures unveiled.

You got that right, sniper...a few minor preferences taken care of, and I think I'd go backwards buying a new one this year...06 Apex's are fantastic rides, once dialed.

Welt, I'll disagree every time with Doos getting the best mileage (in my world). They just don't around here. It depends on how you ride. I get 13 to 15 all the time with my apex, and the doo's get 10 or so. They suck gas just like all the rest when running full tilt hedgerow to hedgerow. I guess they are ok for big trail cruising mileage, but not how we ride in farm country.

I am surprised that doo did not make a HO version of the 1200 with 3 throttle bodies and a few other performance tweaks to make more power. We all know one is flying around somewhere disguised as to what really lurks under the hood.
We all know a new apex is waiting to be released at some point.
And while it is extremely cool that cat made a snoX replica sled, why only 500cc's?

No one cares about the Doo XRS with the 800 in it. There are so many 440/800 conversions on Doo talk now you get race sled chassis durability with a 800 in it. Its same parts in a different config but I like it.

Put it this way. This is a year to either sit with what you have, or go looking now for a leftover 09 at bargain prices, regardless of brand. Dealers are being forced to sell below cost to unload interest accumulating sleds on their floor.

I like the look of the Doo's, they ride great but the 800's are still timebombs. They could improve on that. You do any little mod to them and they go boom.
Poo put the 600 in their sled for a reason. Their 800 isn't doing it. They have had a bucket load of issues with it.
Cat seems to be doing their homework. I haven't heard near the issues with their motors.....just their chassis.
I think Yamaha has a solid lineup. Adding FI to the trail friendly Vector was a good thing. As for mileage....I'd put a Yamaha 4 stroke against anyone's two stroke anyday.......the way I ride. We pushed are sleds hard last week in the UP. My Viper has always run good and gets respectable mileage for a 2 smoker. Every time we stopped for gas ,when I'd take 7-8 gallons, the Apex, ATTAK and Nytro that were with me took around 3.3-3.6 gallons from point A to point B. I thought the Nytro would do a hair better than the 4 cylinder Yammies but they were about the same.

What kind of doos are you comparing your apex too..(thoe old ones?)
My buddy had a 08 XP 600 that got 21MPG and now has a 09 XP 800R that gets atleast that.. I dont see any yamahas getting anywhere near the 20mpg mark.. I get maybe 14 my brothers Rx-warrior gets 15-16.. the Firecats get 12mpg and the F8 gets 14mpg, and the Crossfire 1000 gets 13-14mpg, 07 Nytro getting 16-17mpg

True, my Yams will never get 20, unless off a cliff. I'm talking about doo's the last two years, one in particular is the 500 (600 carb) that can't even get 10mpg running hard. The others are great if you cruise, but once you start banging, kiss it goodbye. Horsepower takes fuel, and the thumb controls a lot of it. No free rides. But it is great that they can get great mileage if you watch it.
I don't get any better than 15 on the Apex, so I might as well spin and chew my way through the day..lol.
