Dual Carbide Warning

Studboys duel carbide bar is called the deuce bar,the front of the bar has a 90 degree bent to fit up into the ski. They work great on my attak. Just take it easy over those RR tracks.

We were in Shingleton, Mi (UP) during New Years and my daughter-in-law hit the rail in town with a Ski-doo and bent her trailing arm. We took it across the street to a repair shop and he welded a hunk of steel on it. We disassembled the arm and reassembled it with some tools he provided. Repair shop said he gets a couple sleds a day there in town on the tracks. After we left maybe hour or so, my wife hit a rail going into Munsuing where the trail crossed with dueling on her Vector. Her glove came flying pass me and I thought she throw it at me. When she hit the track her skis yanked her in the direction of the rail. No damage was going slow when she saw the rail coming up. It may not be the dually problem but any carbide hitting the rail at the wrong time or angle.

Arctic,

The samething happen to me on my 04 Warrior two years ago. I was last from a group of 5, passing at the same place on a RR crossing. The skis just YANKED... Broke the pivot right in two. Had 200 miles on the sled, dealer did not pass it on warranty. Let me tell you I NOW VERY CAREFUL ON PASSING RR TRACKS.

With railroad crossing I think it is imperative that you slow down and cross the tracks at a 90 if at all possible or slow down to a crawl if crossing at an angle.

I had this happen last year with my Doolies. I was only going 5 mph and it stopped me dead in my "tracks". My arm flew forward and hit the kill...err, engine off...switch. I didn't figure that out for a few mins. I figured the impact had jostled something loose under the hood. Once I popped the switch up it started OK, but the handlebars were slightly askew.

A few weeks later same thing happened when I was trying to avoid it. I was going as slow as possible and they still caught.

The Doolies are very blunt up front.

either way, his sled is messed up!

Guys and gals, when crossing RR tracks, do a lift on each ski, up and down, like you see the guys do in the mountains snow, when they dance back and forth. I do the same thing pro116 does when he crosses. We have hooked before.

Yes I have Shaper bars with bergstrom ski savers. I hooked the train tracks in Muni and twisted the right front spindle and bent both upper and lower left A-Arms. This damage occured at less than 5 mph. 800$ ouch. This is due to being careless with new carbides as this is a common occurance when crossing tracks. Just a warning for all my fellow sledders.

A friend of mine recently caugth a ski on the tracks and bent the front piece of his tunnel and aarms on his 1000 Gade.

Skis are C&A outlaws. Any aggressive carbide can catch a rail very easily.

I had the same thing happen to me in Newberry last year, I couldn't cross those tracks for anything. But IMHO, what happened to Toms sled was for two reasons, of course new carbides, but what about the new lighter weight a arms and spindles. With all of the twisted spindles on the Apexs this year, it kind of makes since. Maybe Yamaha went a little overboard on trying to save weight?

Yes, rock the sled.

I rock my sled in more ways than 1..........But that is just me.

Just glad your O.K. tom...

It could happen to anyone with any kind of skis or carbides..

You were just the unlucky guy!!
