Anyone know if anything in the programming of the ECU are difference between Viper and Arctic cat 7000?

Is it possible to put a used ECU from a crashed cat in my Viper?

Keep one of them stock and flash the other one.

I believe you can but keep in mind that the ECU from Cat has a Vin associated with it. It will be recognized when a flash is done. The Cat dash also has a PIN # activated at sale time. Make sure you get that number. If you go in Diagnostic Mode It will come up. Yamaha its all zeros. Cat its needed to run sled after 30mi or it goes into a limp mode. I do not know if the ECU also uses that number. I think it does. So get it from sled ecu is taken from that way you can enter the number in your dash. All programing is same other than that and driver size for speedo accuracy.

Thanks!
The cat sled has been in an accident and sold in parts. So I can buy the ECU quite cheap. And it has 8T driver like my XTX.

Maybe get the dash with the deal or at least plug it into yours so you can see that code and write it down.

Okay makes sense but if you were sending it to say Evo for a flash, would he not be just overwritting everything making the pin lockout and the VIN not an issue at all? Would he not just be flashing a generic ROM with the updates to the parts he wants to tweak?

I was talking Dealer Flash. EVO would have to answer that. My guess is he does not overwrite the code for the PIN number in cats since normally its the owner sending it in i.e. the ecu and sled match. So if thats what you are doing be sure to tell EVO.

Oh I thought of something else. The Cat diagnostic tool used for flashes CANNOT flash a Yamaha. But a Yamaha diagnostic tool CAN flash a cat also. Not sure if thats in the ECU or tool.

This is an old post, but I was wondering if you did this wouldn't the splash screen on the display be messed up when you start it? Not a huge deal, but my Dad's 7000 displays a cat and the Arctic Cat logo upon start up and my Yamaha says Yamaha Genesis 4 stroke. Maybe the splash screen is controlled by the dash itself, but I was sort of curious. Some people might not care about this detail, but it would bug me if it showed the wrong splash screen.

It's no problem if you send cat ECU to EVO for flash. I have been asking them.

But the problem for me is that no one do it in Sweden so I haven't buy it yet. My Dealer don't think it work if I put cat ECU in my Viper and then tried to update with new flash from Yamaha.

Splash screen is brand specific. Point I was making is there is a difference in the actual tool.

So I gonna wait and see if I could find a cheap used ECU from a Viper. New one is very expensive so it's not worth the money.
