Ecu reflash

First of all there is more than one thing the re flash is addressing. Second Yamaha is not saying what exactly is being done. If modded in any way I would be checking AFR's.

If Yamaha is changing the fuel map throughout the throttle range the aftermarket turbo guys may very well need to change their maps as well. What worked last year may not on a 2015 sled. All the more reason to run a wide band o2 gauge. Any idea what they may be addressing besides the hot start issue?

What is the reflash addressing? My dealer here says they aren't doing one...I never had any issues but I did get my xtx later in the season

I was told hot start issue, cold start and idle issues. Mine started cold (-25 c) but hard to start hot at times, had low idle issue as well, would stall at road crossings at times.

Back to the dealer tomorrow. After the reflash I still have hot starting issues. Three times no start since reflash...1st P1339 code and 2nd and 3rd time was P1338 code. Any one still having this issue after the reflash?

On a side note to the reflash, there is a good write up on Dynotech if you're a subscriber, where Jim discusses the the 14' Viper vs 15' dyno results from the last two NY shootouts where he dynos the sleds every year. In 2014 the Cat 7000 fuel curve looked different on the Dyno, leaner in spots I believe, than the Viper but also didn't put out as much peak power as the Viper. He wasn't sure why the difference since they were supposed to have identical mapping or if it was just a sled to sled thing. After putting a 2015 Viper on the dyno at this years shootout, he said the curve now looked very similar to the 14' Cat from the previous year and made a few less ponies than the 14' Viper while making about what the Cat hp was in 14'. Maybe a fluke the previous year or a conspiracy theorist might claim that they had the first year Viper a little "hotter" in HP, which has happened with many first year sleds from all of the manufacturers.
