Edmonton Snow Show update- saw the supercharged APEX run!

Darko- fair post, just repeating what you have been told. We arent trying to mislead anyone, and I dont believe we have, I just know that if there was 20' of snow in the mmountains or 2' on the prairies I would be more excited, as it sits right now, Im not worried about driving on dirt, so I will wait and see holw long it takes for things to pan out. I still recommend the blower over turbo, but thats just my opinion. Has everyone, or anyone got the turbo fuel mapping problems completely sorted out yet? Has anyone else shipped kits for Apex in hundreds of kits yet, to be installed at all? Just asking.

There are 2 superchargers at the Edmonton show, E&S has one installed and running in the APEX, oh what a sweet sound. Alberta Cycle has one on a rack in front of their APEX, kind of a before and after deal. I will get pics and video tomorrow, but if you guys want to see/hear it, get to the show, I will be there until noon or so.

Bottom line- buy one, they look sound and flat out are awesome, Darren, Bob and Sandy said the install was straight forward, way WAAAAY less time than a turbo, and they did a bang-up job.

Way to go guys. Want to install mine too?

So how did they run with out the control unit? as you stated you had seen it run?
I am not slamming MPI at all it is not there fault that the units sent for the Edmonton show did not have the control units and the dealers where told of this. the dealer that has the supercharger installed is still waiting for his controller as well, by the way where are the pics/video you were to post.
This is not a slam but would just like correct information just like Darko stated-I will by this kit when it is up and running-not just on the running from some ones mouth.
You should know who I am by now

Darren had the Apex running, it ran dozens of times for hundreds of people at the show. I never said it did qtr mile drags in the parking lot, I said it was running, maybe I should have clarified that, sorry. I said that Darren did a great job, I continue to do so.

They did not run without a control unit, they ran without the fuel remapping being done. I dont think you would want to go do a mountain run without this happening, but we all heard and saw it run. If darren hid a cordless drill to spin the engine over and a tape recorder to fake the sound, he fooled all of us, way to go Darren Copperfield!!

The pics were not as good as the other guy posted in here, and the video sucked.

thats great and will be looking for to the install when the kit arrives and hope the control unit works as well.
talked to the front mount turbo guys on the west coast as well and they just finished the dyno test and run using the stock injectors up to 14 lbs boost on the apex with 280+ hp but have not got the tanks or kit ready yet.
should be a great seson for the Yamaha guys

Let me take this bag of snakes and lay them out straight for you guys.

First of all let me clarify who I am so no one is confused. I am the R&D Director at MPI. Myself and Mac (the owner) designed the entire kit so lets start from square one. This post is not directed at Darko, I'm just going to answer his questions as well as others.

1. We had the prototype fuel map completed last spring, when we got our first production Apex we did some fine tuning on the proto map to match the production map and performed many dyno runs to verify good results. In a nutshell we have COMPLETELY finished with the fuel controller. That doesn't mean that we can gaurantee that we won't find some way to make version 2 of the map better later in the year, but it does mean that we have done all we can do to make it as close to perfect as possible. As I have posted before, we are not the type of company that ships untested guess work kits to customers who are forking out there hard earned cash. We are not stupid enough to ship anything that we don't feel 100% confident in.

2. When you say we had to order 5000 connectors that is true, but that doesn't mean we are waiting until we sell 2500 units to order. We ordered the connectors from Japan several months ago and when they showed up some parts of them were incorrect so we expedited the correct ones and expect them in a matter of days. That doesn't mean that you should start harrassing me in 2 days if you don't have them in your hands, it only means that they will be here in short order and we will finish assembly of the wiring looms and ship asap. Obviously I'm not going to nail myself down by giving you a date because you guys would fire bomb my house if they showed up 30 minites late. I expect to ship them in the next few weeks but I would recommend checking back in the next week for an update at which time we hope to have an exact date.

3. When we shipped the first kits we made it abundantly clear that they didn't have the controllers in their kits and we gave no promise times. Some guys said they would prefer to wait for the complete kit and that is fine but most said they would like to get their kit installed minus the controller because it literally takes under 10 mins to intall it.

4. We are currently building 30+ kits per week and expect to have all preordered kits shipping in the next 3 to 4 weeks. That's over 200 kits in all.

5. What everyone needs to realize is that stories inevitably get changed, modified, blow out of proportion the more people tell them. You might try for once actually beleiving that not everyone is trying to screw you, we stand behind our product and always have. We are human and make mistakes and when there are problems we will do everthing possible to correct them.

6. Stage II kits are completed but they have limited on snow testing which is why we have decided not to ship until we have more on-snow testing. We expect to have enough snow to test within weeks which means we should be able to ship shortly after.

Mad Nuts, if you are that upset with our product, feel free to contact your dealer for directions to return your kit and receive a refund. I have been honest with you about the situation (refering to my pm last night) but still you continue to complain. I'm not aware of any turbo kits being shipped in any signifigant quantities yet nor is there enough snow to ride yet so I'm not sure what you hope to acomplish with this.

If anyone has any further questions please ask and I will try to respond as quickly as possible.

Thanks to TCI, Hammer, TJ's and all the other guys who continue to support our products.

Forgot one thing. Our kit will run enough to be started and reved or even moved around without the control box installed. That is why they were able to start the sled at the show.

Thanks for clearing the air and hope to get the kit soon as possible. :D

That is perfect, im glad we can post (not bash etc) and get the answer from someone in the know. This is the reason these 4M's were designed for. I appreciate the promt response by all and look forward to the SC ripping some snow.

not trying to mediate or whine or cause troubles Darko, but I am confused as to why you feel the post that is 3" above yours has to be repeated in its entirety?

Darko you troublemaker......:moon:

I saw that picture of your sled naked bubba...getting a front mount eh...;)!

LOL, im usually a trouble maker but not on this site.

The naked pics are me tearing it apart to get my steering post out. Building a new one in the AM with 3.5 inch's of rise

I'd like to go more but i cant find a longer throttle cable. Any thoughts on where to get one. ;)!

>> Any thoughts on where to get one <<

Um, nope... Haven’t heard of anyone making cables for the mountain.

You gonna use them bars for chin-ups or something.........
