I don't believe there is any kind of break in chip or any thing in that direction. All that Mike Knapp suggested would be where I would look first. What does your dealer say? How many miles are on any of these sleds effected by this problem?Anything to the break in chip thing that came from other post? I think it said it came from Yamaha.

Definatly no break in chips. We've broke two in this year and they go like hell with 0 miles on them
no code, loss of gauge cluster?

It sounds like it's cutting spark for some reason. It could be the crank trigger or ecu.or anything in between.
Use that warranty man.

It's
like you hit the kill switch. I back off the throttle and it stays running.
Really need to know what RPM range it's happening at. If it goes lean RPM will be down and it will surge and pop.
You should check the clutchs and belt just to make sure there is no oil on it. If there is, it could easily be rev-limiter. If they are clean and spotless, I'd tend to think its not getting the fuel the engine needs. The reason I say that is you mentioned a backfire, and I assume that backfire is in the intake which is lean popping in the intake.
I haven't seen or heard anyone find the limiter yet myself.
Anyone else hit the limiter yet at all?

I see a post on here about retourque of the primary clutch. Could it possibly be that the clutch is slipping on the crankshaft causing to motor to quickly overrev hitting the limiter. This might explain why it doesn't happen all the time and only happen when accelerating hard. I'd follow the suggest re-tourque procedure.

Its sad the Sidewinders doesnt come with A/F gauge so we can read the a/f. I will say its a must in a turbo engine. If it goes lean the top gasget can go ore a rod comes out of the engine.
