Engine guys.. Help??? What to do?

So Jim

If my crank was scored would I have magnetic particles in my oil? I check all the oil real close with a magnet and never picked up the slightest?

Bearings are, by design, softer than the crank and will not "score" the journals (like trying to scratch iron with a chunk of aluminum) . They are softer so they will absorb any steel shavings or hard material flowing in the oil, that would scratch the crank, and keeping them away from the crank. However, the bearing babbitt material will "weld" to the crank from heat / lack of oil.

So if it is "welded" on to the crank then machining would be required? I think with aluminum on cyls. a chemical can be used?

Yes, you use muratic acid to dissolve the stuck piston aluminum on cylinder walls. The babbitt bearing material is not all aluminum, if it has any.
