What would it take to retrofit a non-EPS sled (2017 ProCross chassis) to EPS?

It's a lot. Just had a brand new 22EPS torn apart and did some research. Aside from the '22 EPS unit and all of the related physical hardware, you'll need the wire harness and ECU and gauge from , plus a VIN# of a 22 EPS QS3 to have programmed by cat as a replacement ECU. All in about $3400. Plus, if you run a tune, a new tune for the new ECU. There may be a way around the ECU thing but I'm not aware of how to do that. The EPS unit communicates with the ECU. Lastly, a lot of these parts are on backorder. What would it take to retrofit a non-EPS sled (2017 ProCross chassis) to EPS?

There are aftermarket EPS kits out there. I think the most popular one is sold by gseperformance.com in NY

I looked into this as well and came to the same conclusion which is why I bought a 22 to replace my 2019. The aftermarket kits seem to have a lot of deficiencies and are not the same as factory. Unfortunately nothing is comparable as factory and you have to bite the bullet and upgrade sled...It's a lot. Just had a brand new 22EPS torn apart and did some research. I just bought a NS1 gauge for my 2022 stx gt, are you implying that i will not be able to take out the stock gauge without affecting the power steering? It's a lot. I also could not get a clear answer from Stefan on IQs support with NS1 which would also be a function of gauge integration. IQs at least has its own ECU so what is needed is integration into the NS1 display so you know what mode you are in. The other option would be to find out from fox if the manual switch for IQs is available to install with the existing IQs ECU, which to me would be a superior solution anyhow as you can tell from feel which mode you switching to without looking at the gauge, this is how they run on S&S.

The stx gt has the manual QS shocks, so i dont have to worry about that portion. However i am concerned after reading Tcat100's post that there is something in the factory gauge that is necessary for the power steering to work.I also could not get a clear answer from Stefan on IQs support with NS1 which would also be a function of gauge integration. I didn't even see his message.
It sounds like he is saying there is an ECU specific to the EPS. And that ECU needs to talk to the main ECU. If I had to guess, its a one way communication between the sled ECU and EPS ECU as the EPS ECU would need access to canbus to read the current telemetry (engine state, speed, etc). At least I hope so. I have no power right now, running on hotspot and very poor connectivity or I would go check the fiche.
I didn't realize the STX used the manual IQS switch, good to know.

not necessarily. What I found was when I put my 19 gauge with a 22 ECU, it didn't work correctly. And the 22 ECU from an ATAC will display the suspension error code too. So I figure the clean way would be to just plan on a 22 gauge, 22 non ATAC EPS ECU, and all the bits and pieces plus the EPS unit, shafts, etc.I just bought a NS1 gauge for my 2022 stx gt, are you implying that i will not be able to take out the stock gauge without affecting the power steering?

Ok, so you are doing this conversion to an older sled? Very curious on final outcome and cost to see if this is a viable upgrade for factory EPSnot necessarily. I was exploring doing in my 2019. Since the parts aren't available I put it off. I also have a 22 TCat EPS ATAC that I "injured" and rebuilt, and during that process I was able to experiment a bit to learn about what it would take. As of now the 22 is good to go so the 19 will be by back-up/racerOk, so you are doing this conversion to an older sled? Was the 22 ECU a non-Atac ECU? Am surprised that a 19 gauge wouldnt work with a 22 non-attac ECU. What wasnt working correctly? Still exploring this option.not necessarily. I think the basic consensus is it would cost less to sell your sled and buy new than to try a retrofit yours. Other option is gse electric ps or bop manual ps.
