Excell intake question

Im putting on this kit in my 15 viper and I have a question...in the instructions it says to remove the original frog skin covering the original intake and cover it with the adhesive backing. My kit didn't come with an adhesive backing....did anyone else have one in their kit?? Or am I suppose to get my own??....thanks guys.

No, it should have came with the blank off with adhesive on it.

Well I called Excell today to ask them and the guy said they don't include the adhesive backing anymore and it doesn't matter if you leave the original air opening or not....I went ahead and closed off the original air intake like the instructions say. I must say I'm very impressed with the quality of the excell intake, but I'm iffy on their customer service. I think whoever I was talking to on the phone was making things up to get rid of me....but I could be wrong.

I purchased a kit off of the classifieds on this site. It didn't come with the block off so I called Excell and they told me the same thing as you. They haven't installed it on the last bunch they installed the intake kit on. Told me it wasn't necessary.

When in doubt ask for Aaron at Excell. He has all the answers on this stuff.

I made a aluminum block off plate after the Excell one failed to stick and then broke apart. Doesn't make sense to have stock one open since whole purpose of the intake is to get cold air.

I thought the same thing....figured they developed it and dynoed the kit with the original intake blocked off so I taped it off....I was told they don't close it off anymore because in deep snow the excell one could clogg with snow... I figure leaving the original open was a bandaid fix. I ride trails so I want only the cold air in the intake.
