I always burned up at least one a year (1500 miles) before going to OFT Racing copper donuts.
I feel I don't need to say much as OFT Racing Quality speaks for itself and as with all products with the OFT Racing name they are made with pride in America even if it cost a few bucks more.

I just had my 07 Apex apart to change the Y pipes, and I closely checked the copper donuts I installed 2 years ago. They are still perfect, and am very glad I changed them to copper when my stock fiber ones failed. Great parts for only a few bucks more. I bought mine from Crewchief47. Excellent product and a great price with fast delivery. How do you beat that ?

I put in bender's donuts last year before doing 800 mile trip in Quebec. Got home and gaskets need to be replaced again. Im going to get copper ones but I noticed my manifold on the Magneto side was bent also. Anyone else see this problem? im wondering if the motor twisting from torque could cause this

Copper DONUTS
I put these on mine when the stock donuts went around 2600 miles.....they went for about 26.00 a piece when i bought them. I ground down the spacer in the clamp when i installed them to make the clamp easier to install and tighten up.

mine are going, because i hear a rattle once in a while.
Pull the seat, muffler, gas tank, and heat shield and they are right there.
By heat shield, do you mean the head shield that is over the muffler? I don't see how this would be in the way?? Also, how does the tank come off? Is there a "Exhaust Donut" how to? I am sure i can figure it out, but some info would be good to have.

The heat shield is under the gas tank.09nytro24 said:1975FA said:09nytro24 said:What does it entail to do these? Does the tank have to come out? Tried looking on youtube, but couldn't find anything on it. I am pretty sure

ohh ok. I found a sticky for the apex, but is there one for the nytro?
Like i said, i can probably figure it out, but i'd like a "how to" if i run into an issue.

I'm not exactly sure of a sticky for the doughnut replacement but I felt the same way you did about a year ago when I replaced mine. I wanted it done right and no idea on how these Nytro's came apart. It is fairly simple once you dig into it. Remove the rear plastics to get to the bolts on the seat and remove the seat. The tank has a couple hoses that plug into it that are easy to remove and about 4 nuts to take the tank off. Once the tank is off, there is a cover on top of the tunnel that you removed (this is the heat shield) and right underneath that is the exhaust doughnuts and clamps. This is almost directly under the handle bars. You should also remove the black rubber pieces near the center of the tunnel (I believe the FX's have these) and there should be two bolts that connect to the exhaust hanger. Loosen these up (they can be very very tight) by spraying some penetrating oil in there and using some sort of hammer and impact driver to loosen these bolts. This will allow for the exhaust to move back and forth so that you can squeeze the doughnuts in between the Y-pipe and flex pipes.
Hopefully that wasn't too confusing.

Doesn't sound to bad - Thanks for the info.
I feel like there is some additional plastic that needs removed (aside from the hood)?? There is the two black pieces on each side of the tank where the hood snaps to, or is this part of the actual tank?
I'm probably going to starting tearing into it tonight or tomorrow. We'll see.

Ok so I got one of the clamps off where the donuts go, but what a b****! Is there a trick if they are rusty? I puts some wd40 on them but I don't want to strip them out (the clamps). There wasn't any donut on the one I got off so far. It looks like its going to be a pain to get new ones in there, which I don't even have yet. The other 2 are a lot tighter then the one I got off so far, so there might be something left on the other two.

Use some good penetrating oil, and let it sit over nite. I just did this on my Apex. Patience is the key. Again, use a good penetrant, not wd40. Work the bolts back and forth. They will come out, but it takes a bit of effort. The heat seems to make the threads rusty.

I don't really have anything else to use, what kind of penetrating oil did you use? The bolts that hold the exhaust to the tunnel are going to strip...there is no good way to get to the threads of those bolts. Why does yamaha use these #*$&@ Allen bolts, they are garbage and just strip out

You will need to heat the screws with a torch to break them loose. If you strip them or simply can't break them loose, you can use a dremmel tool to cut the head off to get the clamps off. Then you are at the vise with a vise-grip removing the remained of the stud from the clamp threads. The new donuts came with new screws.

I don't have a dremmel, plus the bolts I am most worried about are the two that you take the two rubber pieces out to unbolt the exhaust header to be able to slide it back to get the donuts in. There is no way to get these out with a dremmel, only way would be to drill them out and I don't want to do that. This completely sucks, I am so pissed off right now.

Ok I got the last donut clamp off, now idk what to do about these other two That need to come off for the header to slide back.
