Went to my dealer today to find out if Yamaha is picking up the bill in the Fan for the radiator. He said that @ the last seminar thay went too Yamaha said they would not pick up the bill due to not enough complaints on it. Now obviously There was a concern due to they added the plugs for the fan on the later produced 07's and now on the 08's the fan is standard? If you got your dealer to pay for a fan to be put in. Did you have the exrtended warranty? I was also told by a sales person those w/ the extended warranty's get special treatment. My sled was bought in Feb of 07 and so far I opted not to extend the warranty. :o| :moon: :whine:

i don't think the radiator is part of any re-call, i think if you have you anti-freeze at a 50/50 mix with some water-wetter you'll be allset, i never once overheated last year and i put 1300 mi. on my machine, driving alot in minimal snow conditions

Yamaha picked up the tab for my fan. Mine was a demo and i got it early march. We had a late snow in March and I put around 200 miles on it or so. I had issues with the over heating riding in about 8" of wet snow. The heat exchanger clogged and iced over several times and I had to roll sled over and scrap it with a stick. I wanted the fan as precaution in case i wouldn't take notice to my overheat light right away. When riding in 8"+ of fresh snow who in the world is thinking their sled is overheating??? Sure caught me off guard. Ha.

Mine the light came on almost everytime I got the sled stuck and was trying to get it out.It also came on when I was pulling kids around on a sled in yard.Never lost any coolant just light came on.Since Yamaha isnt giving me a fan yet I wont worry and when light comes on oh well.I believe if the fans are ever offered to everyone including those without the wiring no extended warranty will be needed to get it.Your dealer is trying to sell you warrantee.

My light comes on when my fiance rides it. She averages approx 30-40 mph and is constantly telling me the light is on. I would get off mine and rip it down the lake then the light would eventually go off. My point is how did your dealer go about getting this covered w/out having to buy the fan which is $171.00 not including bolts and labor. Basically the dealer is telling me this isn't covered? I would really like to know the process that who ever got theirs covered how did they do it? :dunno:

If mine had the wiring necessary I would also have gotten one from my dealer. He just called Yamaha and would have gotten one but since I dont have wiring they declined.

Cannon,
Mine does have he wiring for the fan, so I guess I will talk to my dealer and have them contact Yamaha on this. Thanks I will let you know what comes out of this.

my dealer is putting a fan on mine under warranty. But I also had several discussions with them about it overheating last winter.

there is a new non current 07 phazer gt at a dealer nearby.. wondering if would have to sell with a fan? have had numerous complaints about this... or better off getting a 08 or waiting til the 09 spring order starts?

Yeah sure!!! Get some pistons to go with it, in that case!
The Phazer is a great sled! The most fun ive had so far!
Untill now i hope, bought a Nytro.

You're better off buying a Rev, really....
My 07 FX is a joke...

why is it a joke? i put over a 1000 mi. on my and it never overheated, my anti-freeze mixture was wrong, i fixed it got all the air out and never had another problem, you got to put some miles on these machine to break them in, how many miles do you have on it

It sounds like a dealer problem . . .

I have two Phazer FX's. Earlier this month, I brought them into my Ski-Doo-Yamaha dealer (who I did not purchase them from) for the recall-updates. I was asked - Did you have any overheating problems last year? - I said that I did in deep snow when the heat exchanger iced up. The dealer's response was - Well then Yamaha will install a radiator fan as part of the recall. I got free fans for both FX's - no problem.
Though I have purchased a couple REV's, ATV's and bikes from this dealer (but not these Phazers) the service guy was new and didn't know me from Adam.
Yamaha is taking care of its customers, so if your dealer isn't taking care of you, the problem appears to be at the dealer level.
