Started in Morris, Broke trail. No Tracks. By Ottawa I'm plowing Snow, coming over the hood, under the windshield. My first phazer. I quess you know this feeling. I can't see, I'm plowing, loving every second. Except there's open water a few feet away in the canal. Anyway, the radiators blocked totaly, snow engulfing the entire back end, and reving the piss out of it, and still no overheat light, and I'm waitin' for it! I'm not wet at all. Shot 300 feet of floodwater at Buffalo Rock, still not wet. Overheat light came on finally after riding a mile of plowed clean asphalt on the way home. The sled is the most comfortable ride I've ever had. I lov it. hope I never see the heat light again, But it never happened while it was in the snow even with the radiator totaly blocked up. This sled rocks! Although, the sled labored breaking trail in the morning, coming home with others having packed the deal it went 90! No #*$&@. Hope it didn't void my 3 year warrenty. Lovin the 07 Phazer so far!! Total miles today...92 MPG...15!!
Experience...PRICELESS!!

Even though the radiator was blocked, just the snow being on it pulled the heat out of the coolant and the snow just melted off. I wouldn't see any problems with having that plugged at all. Hope you enjoy your new sled. ;)!

did you check to see if you have 100% anti-freeze or 50/50 mix, i agree with impalapower, the snow would melt and keep everything running cool

90 MPH on a brand new sled in a foot of heavy, wet snow? Hmm, that motor is broke in I would say. Might not want to mention that to your dealer, lol!

Checked coolant on over 10 2007 PZ and the were all 60/40 on the coolant. The radiator is more for hardpack so if you have enough snow for the H/E even with the radiator pluged like that you should be ok. If you rode it on hardpack it could overheat .

That was on the way back after every sled in illinois packed the trail. And only for a burst. I went to the dealer today and discussed the heat light. I tested the antifreeze, It is totaly floating indicating way more than 50/50 or even 60/ 40. Sales guy said run it. If that's what's in it then it's what it's supposed to be! I've spoken to a half dozen car and sled guy's and everyone say's too much is bad. it works better at 50/50. or maybe a little more but not everything floating. I'm gonna ride tomarrow ans see how it goes before I pull all the side panels and tank panel and headlight cover again. Are we suposed to check the oil on these daily? its not hard but certainly not easy disesembling the sled to check the oil. Then pull the light cover, to get the last bolt out of the side panel to access the radiator fill tank? Kind of a pain. I told the guy about 90mph, he said wait till you get some more miles on it, it'll really come to life!

Simon, I glad you are having fun with your new Phazer. The Factory spec. is 60/40 and that is what Yamaha sells. Yes you can use 50/50 without problems. I have never found 100% coolant with any Yamaha sleds i have tested and the tool i used cost $130.00 not $10.00 like most people use.
In my opinion you will be finre with the stock coolant...

After seeing your pictures of all that snow I've got three little words for you...................................... "I HATE YOU" .............. #$%&* :o| :o| :tg: LaLaLa :jump: :-o Not really..... Gosh darn it, that looks like fun. MM.

thanks for the possative feedback. Road 120 miles today in some loose, some hardbacked and some windblown cleen areas around the "hennepin trail". Loving the ride possition even more. Little learn curve involved. Didn't touch the mix in the radiator. Never saw a light. I think I'll leave it alone. I'm really loving this thing. I spanked my buddies f7 repeatedly till around 70 or maybe 75 where he goes by and keeps going. But it drives him nuts I'm getting him. I'm not studded either. He's got studs, clutching, and I don't know what else. I didn't buy this to race but it's nice to be able to rip it up. I'm coming off a modified ZR800 and I'm not missing the power. Maybe on long streches up north. Not this weekend.
