they havent released those numbers yet. For the final production machines they are shootin for 20 lbs lighter than a nytro, and it will supposedly have a bit less peak HP due to exhaust.
I saw on Yamaha FaceBook page they had pictures of the dealers that rode the sled saw my Dealer Tom Irwin and I gave him a call just now. He said fun fast and light. Suspension is great handled the bumps well said if I was to keep a sled for 5 years buy an Apex if I were to keep a sled less than that get a viper. he said 25lbs lighter and from what he can tell 25 hp less than an Apex so about 140 so very comparable to Nytro. 0-105kph will be even with apex 105-160 Apex will pull away and smoke it top end. He said he was doing 90MPH on the Viper and his Apex does 105 in same conditions fresh snow. He currently rides a 2011 Apex XTX Said he'll be on a Viper this year and invited me out to a demo ride said he may have a prototype Viper there not available to ride but to show.
You are welcome.

Current sled is a Phazer, but I've ridden the Nytro lots of times ... The Viper is comparable to the Nytro, maybe slightly tamer.
Thank you!
Interesting Dealer sidenote: I talked to the owner of Larson's Cycle for a while last night (Dealer). He said the first day of the dealer meeting Yamaha made them place their orders for 2014. "Kinda hard to know which models to buy, when you've never even seen or heard about them before" was his comment. He also had a chance to ride the prototypes and said he was seeing 97mph out of the 137 - but he had to venture a little off of the designated riding area to get a long enough run to get to this speed - said he got yelled at for it too.

Yamaha has WANTED us to hate Cat for decades! Now they want us to ride one just because they throw one of their engines in it? As I wrote on Sled Talk, that's downright insulting to true Yamaha loyalists, especially lifelong fans. For the fence-jumpers out there who buy a different make every sled, no big deal. For true Yamaha fans, this is a HUGE deal and in nothing short of insulting to ask us jump onboard now.
PERFECT Took the words right out of my mouth.
X2, this "new" (ya, right) sled is a disappointment.

Well Yamaha hasn't helped me with two nytros overheating, all i want is a mtx heat exchanger. they tell me i'm ridding in poor snow. I guess 0 degrees and 16" of fresh powder just isn't good enough. My friends that ride cat always are taken care of#1APEXRIDER said:LM7800 said:I'd would agree that the quality won't be there. That said CATs customer service is much better then YAM at resolving issues. So to me if i'm gonna have problems i'm gonna buy the CAT turbo, same sled, more power, and way better customer service!....no brainer
You,ve got to be kidding. Go on HCS, and ask the guys there with ALL the problems how well Cats customer service has been treating them for the last couple of years.
I,ve owned an Apex for 3 years, and have never needed to go to my dealer, let alone Yamahas customer service. NOT EVEN CLOSE.

Is the viper a warmer sled then the nytro .....and yes I have a taller windshield and those side reflectors ...,

The chassis is fine, buy them and assemble yourself, yami.
Cats Chaincase is Garbage. between the reverse mechanism and case internals, its a Grenade.
Fit and finish is horrible.
The bodywork is a nightmare to remove, and i can just see the rigged motor mounts snapping on the guys that jump em.
Simply not true. I can take my Procross from this, to this, in less than 3 minutes. It's so simple I do it once in a while just for fun to clean it. If the Viper is the same, and it looks like it will be, you 'll love it.
