Not that we don't care how our sleds look. We are just realistic about what a mass produced production model is going to look like. If you want to add on to make it your own what's wrong with that?

Thats the fun of it, personalizing it to your tastes, and gives you something to work on in the off season.

Don't worry you'll have plenty to work on in the off season...you're buying half a Cat! Just Kidding! Hope it's an awesome sled!

Non taken, I just see my current sled and my friends sleds and after 5000 miles the fit and finish is kind of a non issue. By that time you've either customized it and fitted it the way you want it or just realized its a snowmobile not a piano.

I believe you are still riding an RX-1, correct?
the RX-1 's handle great. and way, way, way faster than the new viper.

Owned an rx-warrior and went back to cat after that tank. Handling was better than any previous yamaha but still couldn't touch a cat.

Not to jump late to the party....:
Fit and finish is a big part of why I like Yamaha. I like the motors, I like the dependability, the F&F... the usual attributes.
To tell me to 'don't buy one if the F&F sucks' is no different than saying 'throw them there Cat clutches on that iron!' Would that aspect of a missing Yami trait bother you? Worrying about a breakdown every trip; is that alright?
Not busting you in any way... I have played this trade off thing in my head for a while. It has boiled down in my mind we are of 2 camps: making a compromise is fine, or it is not. Both are correct, and both are wrong, depending upon which camp you reside.
For me, Yamaha has said they will have Yamaha quality. If they indeed deliver, I have no doubt I will be on a 15 model. If not, I'll wait.
If there is a problem with F&F being brought up in a thread, so be it. If nothing else, maby it will reinforce to Yamaha how highly we desire that trait, and to ensure standards are met.
Why compromise down?

the reason for the compromise is you have to if you want performance. If all you do on a Yamaha 4-stroke is go fast in a straight line than no need to compromise. If you want better ride, handling and a little bit lighter weight, you have to give up some fit and finish for the Yama-cat.

Well said AKrider. I think that's the overall question at hand, Who is willing to compromise f&f for performance. As the great Rolling Stones once said "you can't always get what you want but if you try sometimes you get what you need." Well what I need is yamaha reliability in a performance trail chassis. Lone behold they put the Viper in front of me. I couldn't help but think this is exactly the sled I've been waiting for. Not for everyone but right for me.

I sure am and I love it. I can make the old girl do what I want it too! Some people cant! Speedometer reading almost 9000 miles now just keeps going and going.
