Even with the shim and belt kit installed on some Phazers that we have had go through the shop this season some still had a issue with going into reverse. What we have found is that by adjusting the drive chain tension it has cured ALL of the units that would still not go into reverse even after the kit was installed. The service manual tells you to finger tighten the adjuster and back it of 1/4 of a turn....which seemed to work fine for most. However a few units we fingered tightend the adjuster very snug and then backed off about 1/8 of a turn and there ya go....reverse!
Just thought I would pass this on as I see some are still having issues.

Mine seemed best going into reverse with a bit more than 1/4. Guess there all different.
