Ponder this:

Yamaha doesn't leave technology on the table...if they were going to stop building sleds don't u think the sidewinder would at least have eps??

Here's what we have, thst neither the viper, nor sidewinder has

Eps
Exup
Single shot skid
Ycct electronic control throttle system
Chassis dampers

Only the chassis damper transfered to the viper.

All of these things lead me to believe we have new 100 percent yamaha sleds in our future.
I believe yamaha will have 3 new models from Japan next year...you will see an up graded phaser engine..with the anti engine breaking system, and ycct...I believe the new 998 will also be in a new chassis with ycct...I believe someone said it would be around 115 hp without the blower...BINGO..there is your 900 ace competitor....and finally I believe they will have an apex replacement...with all the new goodies (ycct, exup, chassis dampeners, etc)
They will keep the 1050 in the viper, and still offer the sidewinder...now that's alot of choices and a hell of a line up.
The only thing that concerns me is the ss skid....however...in my Internet searches..I found that fox had developed an air system, that can be adjusted on the fly (both front and rear shocks from your handle bars).....tell me this won't be on a future yamaha??

There....I put it out there...if I am wrong, and we get bng or retro graphics on current yamacats...then flame the crap outta me...lol. I believe the low snow winter, and yamaha wanting to wait for their 50th is the reason we haven't seen anything else.
The sidewinder is a nice stop gap, and created some excitement for us yamaha guys... (as did the viper)....YOU GOTTA HAVE FAITH PEOPLE!!! ;)

:dunno: I'm speculated out but you do make some good points. :dunno: I like the SW and all the variants offered. For the most part it is still a AC chassis with some Yamaha influence. They were clearly focused on the engine and compartment. Asking Yamaha to produce what you are speculating about in one year is asking a lot it seems. I know they are not the same department but the current accessory and apparel offerings for the Yamaha owners is pitiful unless you need a case for you iPhone 4s:(.

Sidewinder is not an Apex & Vector replacement. AC wanted to bring back the Thunder Kitty so their engine supplier had it & could do it so did. So why wouldn't Yamaha pick easy low hanging fruit with the SW just like they did with Viper? Makes sense to me. BUT at some point Yamaha & AC have to have their own identity with their products & 5 year agreement term is coming soon as well as Yamaha 5oth. Everything I have heard is the agreement will be over at 5 year term & really does not affect current products as backing away can be seamless and AC will continue using Yamaha 4s engines. Sooner or later both Yamaha & AC have to announce renewal ,end, or something else with their mutual supplier agreement. So I wait 1 more year and my Apex xtx is going strong so I only would have bought this year if a new Yamaha sled lit me up. SW is interesting but I wanted a sled more like the Apex not like the Viper. I think Yamaha knows their core customer and will have an all new Apex in 2018 if not time for me to get serious with doo 4s.

Lol. Very true in regards to the phone case offerings. What's up with that?!

X2 whitedust....yamaha had had a new sled in development for at least 4 years...so it's not like they are just throwing something out there....where do u guys think all those nifty features I mentioned above came from?? How do u think they developed those items?? And then ask why they developed that stuff...especially since little to none of that technology is being used on the yamacats. ......the more I think about it, the more clear it becomes to me.....again...if yamaha comes with a new chassis next year...you can bet it's been on snow at least 4 years....I told you guys last spring that the "new apex" was seen west of minocqua...and the guy told me it "looks nothing like a viper"....clearly the sw looks like a viper....does it not?? I'm telling u...new yamahas are coming...I honestly believe it....otherwise the sw and viper would have eps, and ss skids etc

I never thought I would be a 4 Stroke Yamaha guy, until this year. I will never go back to a 2 stroke. I respect all brands and opinions, but there is something special about the Apex only few realize!

I think you guys can agree I was about 75-80% correct on this years new sled from my source(s), the only part I had wrong was a new chassis. Other than that I called them all correct. That being said I was told there is new stuff made in Japan yet to come. But that is all I know. We'll see if I get this one correct a year from now.

Hey now...you ain't taking all the credit....lol..I said last spring there was a new apex coming:bling:beer:

Well, I've been waiting patiently for the Apex replacement for the last few years. My patience has run out. With my luck next year will be the year, after I've already purchased something else aka SW (fingers crossed. ) Besides, the single shot isn't exactly getting rave reviews. So, I am ok getting good hp in a better chassis/skid now. And then upgrading again when they perfect whatever else they got coming in a few years.

I guess an almost 190hp on a lighter better handling chassis is a poor apex replacement. Well f me right! lol

The hp numbers keep climbing, advertised 180hp, how does it jump to 190 and have even heard 200 and yes its a poor replacement! So yep F you right!

Here is hoping but why would a cat chassis have EPS or EXUP or anything else designed for a Yamaha? Only thing that could have made it was the electronic throttle on the Sidewinder, Yamaha mating a YccT to a cat electronics system Is probably not possible. Not sure if I even want it!

An all Yamaha chassis, Is it to much to ask for! An Apex with the sweet 4 piston could it be true?

If ya make enough predictions some have to be close.
