I have a 2018 Vector with the new updated shock that they put on the 2018 Apex from the factory. I know this is a lot better shock than the orginal one that came on my Vector. My question is this, if the shock fails while out on the trail will I be able to tow the machine back without doing any damage to the track or any thing else. I know nobody will be able to sit on it while it is being towed. There must be a solution to this while out on the trail. Has anyone come across this before. (This shock does not have a spring over it.)

I don't know, but wouldn't it rest on the bump stops? Or rig something up to keep the suspension up? Maybe even something on the shock shaft (or body) like a clamp to keep it extended? I know a groomer company sells a solid link for a doo skandic, to lock the rear suspension up. Goes from the rear axle to a bolt on the tunnel, effectively neutralizing the shock and springs.

Sorry TrueBlue, couldn't help,myself. The owner of an M20 Airwave, and good friend of Redbeard, I have provisions to repair leaking or broken air lines, but not an air spring. He carries a spare and I'll soon have one as well. Perhaps you could fab a link like that suggested by Sumpbuster.

Thanks for asking this. I am adding weight to the back of my Vector spare gas can and a rack. I believe the only solution is from Hygear. They offer a shock upgrade with a spring. But I am interested in this subject. By the way that is Lee Oscar playing harmonica on Low Rider. One of the best Blues Harp players ever! He even has his own line of Harmonicas. I bought one and it is my favorite.

I have heard of a few riders that has blown the original shock that first came out on the 16's not sure what happened to cause them to blow out though but they were harsh to ride, the updated shock I have not heard of any of them blowing out yet but these shocks are prone to freezing up in cold conditions and losing their air sometimes, so I always carry a small bottle of de icier with me, just pour it into your pump and put it into your shock, there should be a brace to get you home in case one blows though, but I think you can limp back with a blown shock without hurting anything, the Hygear shock is a nice upgrade but are very pricy.I have a 2018 Vector with the new updated shock that they put on the 2018 Apex from the factory.
