Frustrated with Yamaha

BTW there is no calibration on the valve, bolt it on and go.
Don’t let your dealer BS you into thinking it needs calibration.
They were saying the new throttle body would need to be calibrated. Not sure if that really is true or not

Today I’m going to try and find out if the throttle bodies on the Nytro are the same as the Viper.

It does suck that you can't buy a IAC valve and have to purchase the whole throttle body. I'm not sure what you want Yamaha to do about it your sled is 6 years old all ready even if it would have an extended warranty it wouldn't be covered. This has nothing to do with Cat DNA like some people think my YXZ had the same problem and that is 100% Yamaha it was covered under warranty or would have had to buy a new throttle body rack. So don't feel so bad if you think the other manufacturers are any better sell your Yamaha and buy something else you will find yourself in the same boat or worse with any 5 year old machine.

well, really all I want from Yamaha, is a part number, or a vender that can get me the IAC valve. the fact that I have to purchase a whole throttle body is just ludicrous. It would make about as much sense as buying a complete front end on a car, just to buy a new lug nut.

I hear ya man but that's just the way it is now days, it's all about the dollar and it isn't going to get any better.

Keep looking Bud, you will find one whether its used or new, BOP is a good place and hopefully will fix you up, let us know how you make out with this problem, could help somebody down the road, wish I could help you out better.

Ebay. There are complete throttle bodies with valve on there right now for as low as $59 USD!

The only adjustment in the manual is the TPS adjustment, specs out a voltage at idle.

As far as the air bypass screws go, it’s just a number of turns out from bottom, cylinders 1~3 same as the old TB.

For $36 buy it and try it. if it works you have your answer, if it doesn't sell it on ebay explaining why you have it, it was only tested and is basically brand new and ask $30 for it. that's how I ended up finding the Saturn L300 window actuator motor to replace my failed reverse actuator. I went through five different actuators before finding the right one. I was able to either return or resell all those that didn't work. Now I can replace my reverse actuator for only $39.99 instead of the $200+ Yamaha and Cat want for them. Saved me a lot of money and I let everyone here know what it is, how to get it and what to easily modify to make it work so others could take advantage of it.

So, interesting time at dealer today. I started thinking about all of this.
First, I brought these in because I was sure they might need a valve adjustment. Not being 100% sure I asked them to diagnose the cold start issue.

they called me to say all that was wrong was a weak battery. So I went and picked up my sled. Upon loading it I decided to give it a start.... same problem. Starts and peters out. So..... back off the trailer. called me back the next day with this IAC business. So fast forward to now.

First, if the IAC is bad, wouldn’t a code or check engine light be on? They said it came in with no codes, and still have none.

I also asked why the battery was needed, couldn’t they continue diagnostics with it hooked to a jump box or throw a charger on it?

I also asked if they checked the valves like I asked. Answer... no

so my 2 sleds are in the driveway, I’m trying to plot my next move. I’m located in western Michigan by Grand Rapids. If anyone knows of a reputable place to take this mess , I’m all ears. I wish Pats’ in Mass city wasn’t 8.5 hours away. I’d bring them right now.

Oh, here’s something interesting. So I told that dealer that I wanted my old battery back. The one they said tested bad. The one I just put in new in March of 2019. The grizzly gel battery. I just brought it and had it tested. Here are the results

the battery tested 321 ccc
It is a 320 ccc amp battery

seems to me my old battery was just fine
