Last year i had the fuel pump relay problem. I switched out the relay, but encountered no more cold weather to verify that it was fixed. Yesterday it wouldn't cycle at approximately 0deg. It was more like -10 before it wouldn't work last year! I am wondering if its actually what feeds the relay its signal voltage that is failing(ECU?). I think i would like to build a jumper harness from fuel pump directly to the battery to make sure this doesn't leave me stranded again! Any forseeable problems with running the fuel pump off the battery untill the engine heat corrects the problem? I don't want to fry the ecu,but i don't think it can backfeed anything, but im not an electrical engineer!

i just changed mine tonight, what a pain to get to,but i did some re-arranging in where its located,i put it closest to the foot well to see if it makes a difference, also noticed that its not the same part# as the old one,
What I noticed is prior to sealing up the front end and putting on skinz float plate the machine would ingest alot of snow and steam alot in powder, witch would cause the relays to not function properly when it cooled down. I never changed my relays but did fix the snow ingestion problem and have not had any problems since. In my opinion it is not the ralays but the amount of snow let into cowlings that proceedes to melt and steam witch condinsates into the relays.
I agree. There is solid state relays on the market that would help but they would cause a issue with voltage drain since they always are using a small amount even when off.Anyone ever take apart one of the Yamaha Relays?
