Well I'ved decided since I'll have the skid out to replace all the idler/upper guide wheels I may as well bite the bullet and get the Freeride track. Hope this solves my "slush build up on the heat exchanger" issue. But really looking forward to better deep snow performance to match my MTX skis.

Everything I have read and people I have talked with say going to a taller lug track helped the slush build up on the forward heat exchanger. Going with my 1.25 Predator seemed to eliminate my issues and really transformed how the sled performs. You will not believe the difference if you go with a new track like the Freeride!

1.5 free ride

Doing the same thing with my wife's. I put a set of MTX skis on it and going with the 121 Free ride. Hoping it plants the rear of the sled a little better for her. She only weighs about a buck with gear on and the stock track, even with studs wanted to wiggle around under engine breaking on loose snow. So hopefully this helps and she can enjoy riding again.

IMO, your new track will plant the rear of Phazer for sure. I found my stock RTX would spin the track at 60 mph on trail with loose or powder snow. Now with my 13.5 x 1.25 x 144 Firecat track it is hooked up and just pulls your arms back and goes. Your wife will love the change.

My buddies always b*tch & whine that it's spewing crap at them, flap is in a weird outward angle- Gotta stay up front LOL
With it kicking up dust and freezing on the back end/ boards some it's nothing I worry about, knock it off once in awhile.

Have fun with it ;)!

Hey fellas don't want to hijack the thread but. Those of you that have changed to the freeride, what effect has it had on top speed? Faster? Slower? Same?

I rode with Cannondale last year and his Phazer flys.

Thanks Blue. You too! We had a blast on that ride eh? Would have to look back but I believe I lost maybe 3mph. Only negative with freeride was I lost almost all ability to slide much on corners if they were setup at all. I did change my riding style to accommodate that. Judge the corner speed needed, get to that speed and punch it at the apex. Be ready because you will come out hard. You will know what I mean when I say that even a SRX or Apex will have its hands full coming out like that since all those high hp sleds have a hard time getting all the hp to the ground! Plus this style of riding is much safer since you see around the corner before given her the beans. You will give any sled a darn good run up to 60mph in a drag. Even the big boys. I measured my track and it does have almost 3/8in wore off tips of treads at a angle. That took over 6000 mi to do but it has never handled better and have not noticed any deep snow loss of ability at all. Yes I love the track!

Cool, sounds like a win-win. After riding my sons 09 RTX part time for the last few seasons, I'm amazed or, probably should say disappointed at how bad the stock track is for traction. It "looks" reasonably aggresive, but performs horribly. Surprised that Yammi would put this track on there as oem or that camoplast would build such an ineffective track. Yes getting her loose at 40-50 is no problem in most situations. Had a "tense" moment last year when I was checking the topend speed and ran out of road. Thing was sliding, slipping, trying to swap ends, and basically do everything except come to a stop, all at high speed, while heading for a plow up snow bank. Fortunatly, I kept my cool and managed (with a lot of luck) to get her wowed down and not ruin the day.

I forgot to mention I have the Ulmer clutch kit. Do you think I will need to make changes with the new track?
