I am new to site. Been logging on from time to time. Your smarts impress me. I am having a problem with warmers on my 08 Phazer GT. All updates have been done. Warmers are crap so I went after market and now have Code 81. Disconnected OEMs and separate wired after market ones which work awesome. Any advice would be great. Just learned how to do this on computer tonight, thanks all.

Welcome!
Obviously the ECU recognizes the Handwarmers were disconnected thus code 81. I believe there is a way around it with a resistor but maybe not. Most of us who want good Handwarmers just buy Rockmiesters kit and we are good to go. He would know the answer if there is one on how to get rid of your code 81. I do not. There might not be one thats reliable. Dont forget also the ECU controls the stock handwarmers. Be careful that you dont ruin it or have a overheated resistor.
Please fill out your signature with location. Makes things easier here.

Your input on the situation was very much appreciated. I will probably go back to hook it up the original way. Its a shame because they work awesome the way I have them working now. I put my location as advised. Thanks!

Thanks and great Avater pic! Only safe way I can figure would be to literally keep the stock ones attached leave on off and tie them up somewhere in engine compartment. Wouldnt cost anything unless you ruined the stockers taking them off.

I would take an ohm meter and measure the resistance of the stock grip heaters. Go down to Radio Shack, they have a bag of resistors in a variety of values and solder the one you need in place. That should fool the ECM into thinking the grip heaters are still attached.
Just curious but what N Ont town are you in?

Perfect, glad it worked for you. What did the stock grip heaters ohm too?
Do you have rideable snow yet? Kenora has about 2 feet but the lakes are not safe yet.

Just be sure you don't touch the handwarmer switch and accidentally turn them on. Either you'll burn out those resistors or they'll get real hot!
