I have a 2011 system on the bench working on a replacement header for it. Hopefully we will have it available by fall time with dyno information.

Sign me up if it works out Allen.
Now for those who claim lean conditions are you running an air fuel, gauge setup to verify these claims, or jut feeling something that makes you think this?

Guys,
The problem isn't making power but fitting the system into all the stock bodywork. We plan to work on a full system again in the fall 2014 so it will be available for the winter riding season. We are going to work with Hurricane Performance on this project.

I would be interested in a header and retain the stock muffler. 0 interest in a full system....

It probably would be best to get a Power Commander with the exhaust system and eliminate and improve lean fuel conditions. Also, removing the Exup module would set off a code on the dash...a connector with a capacitor would be needed to fool the ECU into believing the module was still there and operational.
Lee, seeing that the APEX with EXUP has been around for a few years now, why would it be so much more problematic to fit a set of new headers and/or muffler than the previous generation of Apexes? They're basically the same chassis wise no?

I'm just kinda hoping for a all stainless EXUP to replace the titainium that you just know is going to fail like the 05 and up ones did. Yami came out with a stainless replacement I bought an 03 set of stainless pipes for my 05. Titainium is failure waiting to happen and hard to fix. Nevermind the insane price to replace. I really thought they had learned from the last titainium fiasco! Apperently not!

At nearly $3000 Cdn (nearly a 1/4 of what I bought the sled for) to replace the header with the stock EXUP, one could buy at least 2 complete sets of aftermarket exhausts. Even if Yamaha would come out with a stainless version, they would be asking an exorbant amount of coin for it.

With the 05 headers being a 1000$ and the stainless being about half I understand that! 1500 for a stainless version is way better then 3000 for a titainium replacement and you know it will last. I would buy a stainless version of the EXUP as a replacement for the original.

What am I missing about the price of OEM. I am looking at buying 1 one Y pipe for $168 through Yamahapartshouse! Have bought quite a bit through them in the past. Are these not working out ? I guess that I shall have to call and see what they are made of , SS or titanium ! They claim all OEM parts !! 06 Attak.

Wow, I did a bit of research and found out what you guys are talking about on the 2011 and up exhaust (Exup). What use to be a left and right Y pipe is now a one piece unit for around $1900 @ a discounted OEM parts warehouse !!
I now see why your 1 piece unit would be very viable for the newer style sleds !!

If anyone knows welding, or these sleds it's Allen Ulmer. I'm sure between his knowledge and fabrication skills he will be able to determine if there is any hp left on the table for these apex years. Even if it only gets minimal hp, if the price is less than an exup, it will be a great replacement when the exup decides to fail some day.
