I haven't been to the UP in the winter since I was a Kid over 20 years ago. Me and my buddies all have crossover type sleds and I'd like to get some recommended trails, loops, and play areas for riding out of Muni. 300+ mile days do not bother any of us so big loops aren't an issue. Also, how is the gas situation out there as far as finding one as we only have ~120 miles max range? any trails to avoid? Thanks!

Many trips to the center..good riding. Grand Marie...castle rock...paridise...teq falls..whiteifsh point to the east...south loops...marquete to the west and more..every year we want to try west side (which this year we actually are doing) but always change our mind and base out of munising because of good luck. Trail 8 can get rough late in the day but otherwise always good riding. The plains is a good place to play also. Gas has never been a problem always able to get station to staition with plenty to spare.

Seney is a nice place to ride............ You can find gas in several places along the way............ A ride to the point is always fun.. Side trip to the falls.. Lots to see, don't forget a good map.. Ask the locals about different trails in the area.. MM.

thanks, we will be staying at the Holiday Inn Express. Any "must eat here" places to check out?
Not a big Munising fan but the trails 30 miles east of it in Seny are really nice.

No steak house in Munising proper.......Foggy's in Christmas is the only "steakhouse" in the area actually.......
Bear trap is open.......The Woodlands in Shingleton is not.......can't say for sure about Boot Lake Bar.......one time I hear it's open, then it's closed, then it's open again.......

Holiday Inn Express is pretty nice place to stay, nice view of the bay. Highly recommend Foggy's, not far from your hotel. Been there, done that. Very fun. After a hard day's ride we'd take the local "drunk bus" from hotel to Foggy's and back. Casino is basically across the street from Foggy.
Good times. Have fun.

The spot in town at the 90 you refer to is probabaly, The Dogpatch,, Just before that to the east beside the Days Inn is Sidneys, and when you are out on the sleds go South on trail 7 only 4 miles South of trail 8 is the Buckhorn, that is another great place! All of the above mentioned places are really good also. The one to the west would be the Brownstone right on M-28 along the lake. It has trail access right to their door. That is another neat place to stop. You will never have a problem finding good food or gas for your sleds in the Munising area. Have a Great Trip Another must see is Big Springs to the South, down trail 7, etc. Go into the state park and go out on the raft and check out the fish! its about 50 miles south, there is gas and food right down the road a 1/4 mile from the entrance to the park.

blueironranger, forgot to ask, when are you going to Munising? We are planning on heading up there on the 22nd and coming home on the 27th. Will be staying at the Comfort Inn. We are meeting friends from New York that week. If you are up there when we are, maybe we can hook up and say Hello. Dan
