Helix,,, Stock vs ???? on fast spooling tunes

And has anyone tried the dalton orange black secondary spring with the 33/35 helix? I did like the low end snap compared to stock secondary but honestly think the TP orange is causing heat issues? Just curious I'm more than likely gonna go with Ulmers stage 2 and if it works with no belt issues I'll be happy. I'm always had good luck with Allen's kits with spot on adjustments from the get go.

If you are stock or older tune, the reverse angle may help with snap, but I advise against it for any of the Hurricane tunes as they pull massive power down low, and can easily pull more helix.

If you already have the orange TP, you could simply twist it at a lower wind(try 40 or even 30 degrees)

Dan, have you ridden one with a tune or even the new tunes? While the power does come on sooner it still has to spool . So 5500 RPM cruising down the trail it spools pretty quick. But at 3700 RPM engagement it is a 135 HP NA sled like a Viper, maybe not even as good with the lower compression. With heavy weights it does not spool that hard IMHO. I am biased as I like launching at 5500 with 10 psi boost, that's fun. To someone coming off a Viper or the like these may seem violent as trail sled but they really aren't. Better than the 1100 but not light years from a power perspective and they need RPM whereas the 1100 would lug hard.

I am in the midst of a clutching swap....Only got a few pulls on 240r map, then 2 more on 270r map....Simply incredible coming from stock power!

Unfortunately the setup I had in was not belt friendly at this HP. So during the thaw Ive been waiting for new clutching to arrive.

I totally agree 100% with all you said about the spool.....And Im not sure I saw you around here much last season, but I was the one going on and on about laggy bottom end on another tuners map on the 17 I was riding last winter. Hence the reason I ordered and bought into the reverse helix with TP Orange thoery, as it sure made sense with certain NO SPOOL maps.

I ran my new 50th stock for 300 miles, breaking her in hard.....Only thing that I saw was massive belt dust, but no issues and it was getting faster as it broke in. At 300 miles I installed the TP orange(3/3) and reverse angle 33/35 Helix, as just about everyone here was doing based on last seasons theory. This worked great on the trail rides I did, I wished I had checked heat but I did not, and it was nice/snappy on trail for a stocker.

It was when I added the big power that the belt let go.....the massive torsional backpressure set at 3/3 was always in the back of my mind, since I pretty much had to rig up a setup to install it there. I knew we wanted more backpressure,but after the belt snap I knew right away it was too much.

I think its less about the helix and more about the backpressure what happened to mine, along with the big HP.

New setup going in now so will see where things go.

Not sure why everyone is struggling so badly to twist an orange to 3/3? I twisted mine to 6/1 without breaking a sweat? are some members trying to do this with clutch still on the sled?

We are running the Cat green torsional in our sleds around here in hole 4-5 with the STM set up. Anything less and there is massive belt slip, especially as the belt sinks low in the secondary. The heavy weights won't allow belt slip in the primary but they will pull the belt through the secondary. Top end drops big time if we back off on the secondary spring. No experience with Yammi clutches but you will not get away with a weak secondary when boosted. No one I know with a Cat has blown a belt yet like this and we have been beating them hard, ice running on the chain in Northern, IL at 100 MPH+, and long high speed trails in the UP with an occasional lake blast into the 120's+.

The stm comes with a black spring with green paint line on it. Is that the spring you are using ? I had it in hole 4 and not good. Hot as hell. Blown a couple belts. I was going to go stiffer on the torsional. Am I using the wrong spring ?

My STM kit did not come with a spring, no idea what that is, we are using the Cat green. What weights are you using? That might be your problem.

Osp weights. They are about 74grams empty and I run them loaded on 270race which is around 96grams. 8800 to 8900 rpm. Pretty flat profile weight.
