Help me make up my mind!!

I ended up putting 144 @ 1.375" down the middle. Did it help for safety, god yes. Did it help traction on a hard launch. God no.[/QUOTE]

You need longer studs! lol

I think if you don't stud this beast...you have to be crazy!

If you ride groomed packed trails...it certainly will make a huge difference. BUT...personally I think you need more than 144, and you need to stud the outside too-that's super important if you really want to hook up! Anything less than that...don't bother.

If you ride more powder/boondock more, then studs won't be as effective. But for groomed trails..I don't Think they can be beat. I started using studs in 2000 on my 2000 T. Cat...and I couldn't believe the difference it made...night and day!!

Do it..but do it right...192 studs outside too, if you have a 137. 180 if you have a 129.

I never stud any of my tracks. I'm considering something like an i grip screw stud just for some bite on an icy corner. I think MrSled did a review and install on one of his sleds.
I checked their site, the 22's look interesting. Does this style stud have a history of working well and staying screwed in? In 200 hp/100 mph applications? I'm like you, same reasons etc.

Just When I thought I had my mind made up you sucked me right back in!

I think stud length is more important than quantity. You could put in 250 1.325 studs and its still not going to hook.

Lol..just like "The Godfather." Lol.

All kidding aside..I would never go without studs on any perfornance sled...and the class that this beast is in is off the charts...all the more reason to put some traction product on it. But that's just my opinion of course.

I didn't even mention length, cuz was just saying that studs make a huge difference.

And in my opinion it's both length and number. Not enough...and if they are longer, your gonna bend/break em like toothpicks. Gotta have a good balance between number and appropriate length.

I'm studding my RTX 129 with 1.450 180 Woodys Megabites...4 per row outside too. That's gonna be my set up.

So Woody's says to go with a 1.325. but I see everyone is going with the 1.45. I take it you all don't believe 1.45 is too long to effect longevity of the track and studs? The other night a buddy and I picked his 1.25 on his Doo with the 1.325 studs and it seemed like they stuck up above the lug a fair amount. A 1.45 or bigger has to look nuts in person.

I had 144 on my Apex, and they were 1.325, and it was a 1.25 lug track, it worked well, hooked well too(studded the outside too), but said if I got a new sled I'd go with the next size up.

Lots of guys are going even bigger than 1.450 on their Winders here too. But for me 1.450 is good enough. It's all up to you though.

I've ran the next size up from the "recommended" for years. 1.25 track for me always gets 1.450s in woodys studs. In my LTX it's 192 1.450 megabites. I've noticed zero difference in track life or integrity going one size up..i do however notice the increase in traction and hook up in all but loose snow conditions

1.575 megabites

Ya know....you could be the only guy in the country that's ran 1.575s up the middle. And close to center. Without any issues.
You might want to take a peek. I'm just saying.
Lots of room
