Well I'm trying to sell my Stage 2 MPI Apex and of course something else had to go wrong with it. I fired it up the other day when it was around -20 celsius. The blower sounded a bit rough. Since then I brought my sled in for a new track and picked it up today. This blower is running so rough and hammering and jerking around. The super oil level is good, it smells fine, looks good. The motor sounds perfect, it's just the supercharger that's NFG. Any ideas guys? I just need this huge POS out of my life!

Thanks

PS- I was a bit upset when I first typed this. On second thought the old Apex isn't a huge POS, just needs a little TLC! It hurts to see her in pain. ;)!

It sounds like the clip let go from the piston. Is there much play when you move the shaft side by side for the intake side of the blower?

Can you be a bit more in depth? Did you mean the intake side of the blower?

Could be the bearing on the supercharger jackshaft... With the side pannel off and sled running you should beable to see if thats your problem. Its loud enough to be the top gear touching the oil tank!

I guess I'll start pulling parts and see if everything moves by hand. I first thought maybe the pulley was hitting the oil tank too, but everything looks fine while it's running.

You wouldn't believe how loud this thing is hammering.

Nice looking sled!!!. I have seen and heard cog belts squeal and hammer when they start to go bad even if the belts appears to look decent.

You should drop that off to me in Cold Lake. I would check it out to see what is making all the noise.

That would be great. I definitely could pay you as well. I just don't have the warm space available to look at her.

Thanks, and thanks for the info. It's possible a bearing has seized and the belt is skipping too I guess.

no doubt in my mind that you stripped the cogs off the crankshaft to jackshaft belt. how many miles do you have on this belt? do you have a bypass/blowoff?losing boost on hard accel? been there done that 2 times mpi changed the pulley and belt combo to a newer stronger setup. havent changed mine yet get 1000 hard miles out of my belt.

I've got about 800 kms on the belt and blower kit. I am running a blow off valve and I haven't noticed any lost boost lately on hard accel but I also haven't been riding it much lately.

And get this, the thermometer in the work vehicle this morning was reading -36 celsius. Gross!
