In the post about this years just completed Shoot-out in the Old Forge area, someone mentioned back in the day that a stock SRX 700 went 114 MPH, well it did not. I have been to them all, and would have remembered if a stock sled went that fast. When the shootout was held in Woodgate,NY(about 15 miles south of Old Forge) they ran 1/4 mile, now then only go 1,000'. I also save my old magazines, so I just got out the magazines with the results for the 1999, 2000, & 2001 sleds. For the 1999 SRX 700 the best run in the 1/4 mile was 12.149 @ 97.82 MPH. The next year the best run for the 2000 SRX 12.486 @ 98.03 MPH. The next year the best run for the 2001 SRX was 9.842 @ 100.56 MPH. The best run from any sled in those 3 years was in 2000 a Polaris 800 XCR did 12.150 @ 102.73 MPH. So I guess we can put to rest the idea that a stock SRX did 114 MPH. However there are aftermarket companies there each year and make runs to show off their mod equipment and I see some of those runs by an SRX was in excess of 110 MPH.

Shhh! Those of us who had SRX's don't want to hear it. Kinda like kids. We quickly forget all the sleepless nights and torture they put us through. Till reminded! All I know is I went from SRX to a Phazer! Rode way more and costed way less than the SRX. Only time I couldn't keep up to SRX was on smooth twisties or long straights and I never got hurt doing it! Never missed a day of work after weekend riding Phazer. Was nothing like that triple and the speeds once modded but Phazer saved my job!
