Honest top speed for Apex........

My uncle bought the new 800 poo shift...
Before the dealer let him have it they had to do an update: head gasket, rings, pistons, head, chain case o-ring...

after that:

Hits 95 mph then its like you through an anchor out he hasn't gotten it over 97 on long lake drags...

once again polaris is making a quality product lol...

thought you'd enjoy this info since were talking about fast sleds

that is really sad, i love Yamaha, but Polaris has really gone down, best sled they ever built was the XCR800 that was a rocket

on trails I've seen 109 to 111 gps on nice groomed trail. I have raced many F7s with different mods and must say they are fast but I have not lost to one yet have not run glare ice but in the same day same conditions I have been faster. I have also raced a 09 turbo cat and can beat it from dead stop to roll ons up to a hundred and then the AC finally passes me. I will say my clutch kit was alittle off on top end but from 0-100 I beat him by 2-3 lengths down low and more mid range so I'm never going to complain

It was absolute perfect conditions-never seen it any better. For comparison my 10 GSX SE 1200 saw 111 on gps and a 09 800 MXZ saw 115.7

ya its sad that they did away with that reliable tripple beast to shove the big bore twin bs down our throat.. There cheaper to make therefore more profit margin its all about the greenbacks and not the customer there f*&@ing

top speed is an illusive thing on any sled.....conditions mean everything, ive seen glare ice days where i can only get 114.6 radar.....and others where i hit 120.1 radar.

wind is important, ice being dry or moist makes a huge difference...clutching and gearing come into play as many here have proven...........ramair IMO is a big help on top speed and biggest gainer for top speed on ice IMO is a predator track.

23/38 gears with dalton dpyr weights, dalton red primary and red secondary spring and a 52 /46 helix is what ive been running for awhile, ive seen 120.1 on radar as best to date......i will be trying a 24 stock top gear this season,as we only radar on ice as soon as conditions get that way in spring.

i also want to dive into the mapping on my pc3 as i hit the 120+ prior to playing with any mapping or timing....

some here have hit 125+ on these sleds with clutching only tweaks..those guys are true radar tuners that know clutching well,so it can be done.

i think with a yamcharger,pc3 setup 125 should be readily achievable on ice.

not bad for an everday trail sled that gets 15+ mpg,and can run wide open for the longest lakes without blowing up,and also has incredible belt life....i dont miss my machs ever!

I come from an F-6 that ran 110-111(GPS) out of the box completely stock on ice........I also ride with a couple F7's. Those ran 115-117(GPS) out of the box on a mile long ice run, perfect conditions. Dont want to spend a bunch of cash and not be able to run with them.........
Now that is some funny s**t. Im thinking if you had a 1000 it would run 130-140. Im thinking you should stick to cats to get that kind of speeds. ps I have a CF7 and a Attak ~ I cant come close to those F6 speeds ... :drink:

I have absolutely no reason to lie about those numbers.........My F6 with a good tail wind and clutching used to see 113.........the F7's with low windshield and clutching 118..........I guess believe what you want, I am quoting real number and asking for real numbers, Thanks to those that gave their input.

The Apex and its reliability have peaked my interest..........just want to make sure it has the top end I need !!

I'm not sure about GPS but I had my Attak out on Houghton Lake on Sunday. 70% glare ice with some snow patches here and there I'd hit. Saw 128 MPH on the speedo and if I would have held it longer.. MIGHT have hit 130. Don't know what that would be with GPS. Less obviously.

I have Cobra track with 108 1.450's, extros, 22 top gear and Ulmer clutching that I tweaked a little.

My '04 F7 SnoPro with 1" track ran 112MPH bone stock with studs. Some are probably a bit slower...some faster. I don't see those numbers being unachievable. On a trail that isn't really hardpacked, the F7 would probably be faster on top than an Apex.

I agree with Rocker..it seems on different days, i have differnt speeds-weather and surface condition is everything. Id say, to gain some top end charge, get rid of the Rip Junk for a 1inch Hacksaw or Predator

MY GRANDPA HAS A 2006 APEX GT BONE STOCK WITH 168 STUDS AND HE IS 200 LBS AND RAN 119MPH DOWN AN ICY ROAD ON RADAR AND 129 ON DREEMOMETER. MY FATHER ALSO HAS A 2005 FIRECA F6 AND COULDNT RUN ANY BETTER THAN 98MPH

I have to throw in my 2 cents on the minor track bashing. If you want top speed lake runs, the 1 inch tracks are great. IMO the Ripsaw is an amazing performer in the trails and varying conditions. I know there is always a trade off with perfomance on a machine that is constantly operating in changing conditions.

not bashing the Rip-just sayin from experience. I BURY my buddies Rips off the line everytime with my 1" Predator.
Losse snow, hard pack-dont matter

Well I spent $ 6,000 on an Apex motor to stroke it to 1100cc (approx 189 hp), added power commander fuel controller, Filter kit, Hauck race pipe, up 2 teeth in gear box, heel clicker II clutching, Overdrive sheaves on the primary, 196 1.375" studs to run 125 mph on both radar and GPS on ice and it took almost a mile to get it there. (front & rear suspensions were lowered, shorty windshield and me pasted to the tank. It took 8 runs with different track tensions and adjusting the adittude of the sled (nose angle), smallest wear bars I could find 3" and that was a sled that would only do about 104 in stock setup GPS.
